Fans have just received an unnerving first-look trailer for the horror comedy film The Menu, starring Anya Taylor-Joy, Ralph Fiennes, and Nicholas Hoult. The Menu comes from Succession director Mark Mylod, written by Seth Reiss and Will Tracy, and is set for release on November 18th, 2022. The story follows a young couple, Margot and Tyler (Taylor-Joy and Hoult), who travel to a remote island to eat at an all-exclusive restaurant where Chef Slowik (Fiennes) prepares an incredibly lavish menu. However, the chef has some haunting and shocking surprises in store for his unsuspecting guests.
The trailer, which comes from Searchlight Pictures, gives off an eerie vibe throughout its 90-second runtime. It begins with the chef getting the attention of his guests and workers with a signature clap we see multiple times throughout the clips. He then welcomes the guests to the restaurant named “Hawthorne.”
Shortly after revealing clips of the guests enjoying their exquisite dinners, and Taylor-Joy’s character expressing her disinterest in the unnerving event, it then cuts to the Chef Slowik revealing to Margot, “You shouldn’t be here tonight.” We then hear the chef state, “You, my dear guests, are not the common man,” then unnervingly saying, “What happens inside this room is meaningless compared to what happens outside.” The sneak peek gives little away in terms of what could be going on at Hawthorne, which makes it all that more interesting to find out when it releases.

Anya Taylor-Joy is a fantastic choice to take the lead in the film. She is most prominently known for her role as Beth Harmon in the 2020 Netflix series The Queens Gambit and recently appeared in 2022’s The Northman. Other credits for the actress include 2020’s The New Mutants, 2021’s Last Night in Soho, Netflix’s hit series Peaky Blinders, and much more. Hoult, most known for his role as Hank/Beast in the X-Men franchise, has also appeared in films, such as 2013’s Warm Bodies and 2015’s Mad Max: Fury Road.
Fiennes also seems to be a great choice in terms of the lead antagonist, considering he starred as the terrifying Lord Voldemort in J.K Rowling’s Harry Potter film series adaptations. He can also be seen in other notable films and shows, such as 2021’s The Kingsman and No Time to Die. Other cast members include Hong Chau, Janet McTeer, Judith Light, and John Leguizamo.
