DC has officially released the first full Black Adam trailer, giving fans their first look at Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson as the iconic DC villain. Although the studio has provided snippets before, this provides fans’ first full look at the story and cast for Black Adam, which according to the trailer, is set to hit theaters on October 21st, 2022.

The brand new Black Adam trailer has provided our first glimpse into the story for the upcoming DC superhero project starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. The character of Black Adam is known as the archnemesis of Shazam and has appeared frequently in the Shazam! comics, but this will be his first debut on the big screen and provide an origin story for him in the DCEU.
The story will focus on Teth-Adam, a man born into enslavement in the fictional country of Kahndaq thousands of years ago who, years after being killed by his masters, is resurrected by a magical bolt of lightning seemingly called down by his son shortly before he dies from a ritual. He intends to use his newfound power to seek revenge on that who wronged him.
The official description for Black Adam reads:
“Nearly 5,000 years after he was bestowed with the almighty powers of the ancient gods-and imprisoned just as quickly-Black Adam (Johnson) is freed from his earthly tomb, ready to unleash his unique form of justice on the modern world.”
The movie will also star Sarah Shahi (Old School) as Adrianna Tomaz, Noah Centineo (To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before) as Atom Smasher, and Quintessa Swindell (Voyagers) as Cyclone. Black Adam will be directed by Jaume Collet-Serra, famous for his work on The Shallows, and written by Adam Sztykiel, who worked on Rampage, another film Johnson starred in, Rory Haines and Sohrab Noshirvani, who both worked on The Mauritanian).
