A grandmother in Florida showed how her daughter was refusing to see her baby by locking herself up in her bedroom. According to her, this has been going on for days, leaving the grandma worried about her granddaughter, who is breastfed.

I anticipated this but not this soon. I have literally been up for 24 hours. I don’t know what else to do. 😭😭 Please don’t be negative I’m really desperate for prayers and positivity. #teenmom #teenmom #postpartum #momsoftiktok #foryoupage

The grandma, known only by her username, thechatterboxoften, shared the tense and heartbreaking moment on TikTok. She often shares content alongside her daughter and the rest of her family, most of them lighthearted. The clip attached above became her biggest one yet, garnering 3.3 million views, 180,300 likes, and close to 5,000 comments in over a day.

The grandma is shown standing outside her daughter’s bedroom door, begging her to open the door. “She wants you,” she said, referring to her daughter’s baby, while also knocking on the door multiple times. Her daughter, Tatiana, stayed put and didn’t open the door.

“Come on. It’s not fair to the baby,” the grandma said.

‘Break The Door Down’

Defeated, the woman walked away from the door and started to talk directly to the camera and, therefore, her followers. She detailed that this behavior had manifested itself for “two whole days,” which is particularly worrisome since Tatiana’s baby is breastfed. This means, of course, that she needs her mother for her feeds.

The grandmother, out of exhaustion and concern, contemplated multiple options, including breaking into her daughter’s bedroom.

“I don’t know if to break the door down or respect her boundaries,” the grandmother said. “She’s maybe experiencing some type of postpartum depression. But I don’t know what the [expletive] to do. Like, I’m about to give up. I just cannot do this.”

The Florida grandmother had apparently been up for 24 hours before recording the video. This explained her demeanor and also shed light on what might be going on with her daughter. She wrote in the clip’s description, “I anticipated this, but not this soon.”

Reactions

The video sparked multiple responses, with some viewers mad at how the daughter was handling her motherhood. One said, “Oh, she thought it would be all flowers and sunshine.” Others took issue with the grandmother’s “boundaries” comment, with one writing, “Respect her boundaries is CRAZY! It’s HER baby!“

However, most viewers appeared to be genuinely concerned about Tatiana’s well-being. After all, postpartum depression is a very real and serious disorder. One commented, “As someone who survived PPD… please break the door down.” Another one added, “Call the ambulance ASAP, take them both back to the hospital.”

In a follow-up, she detailed that she now fully believes her daughter is experiencing postpartum depression. The grandmother also said that it was now three days since Tatiana had refused to get out of bed or talk to her.
