Florida Karen Crashes Out at Grocery Store in Viral Video: ‘Being nice makes rude people even angrier’

Where is she going in such a hurry?

A Florida Karen felt the world revolved around her when she was inconvenienced at a grocery store, which led to a viral TikTok video. In turn, she had a crash-out and let everyone around her, who cared to listen, know just how much of a bother it was.

While at a grocery store, TikTok user Kennthmichael1984 was helping bag items. Other customers were filing in too, one of whom—a Karen—apparently had the same level of patience as a baby. When one of the customers currently being assisted was taking too long, this led to the Karen having a meltdown.

This all started when said Kenneth’s friend had held up the line due to a broken item. So naturally, she went back and got one to replace it, at the behest of Kenneth. He tries to explain he was the reason the Karen was being held up and even tried to apologize. This wasn’t good enough, prompting the irate customer to check her watch, throw up her hands, and complain about how long it was taking. Kenneth tries to calm her down by telling her, “Oh, she’s coming right now. She just ran and grabbed something.”

The Karen customer throws her hands up in the air and says, “It’s not right!” When Kenneth says, “We asked her to do it,” and takes the blame for her delay, she continues to throw up her hands in distress. The Karen says, “It doesn’t matter. I’m standing here.”

The woman keeps it going, growing angrier and more impatient as she goes. She tells them it’s been “longer than a second” and Kenneth laughs and says, “Ah, you’re fine.” The woman in line behind the Karen is laughing at this point too, because the scene is so ridiculous.

Eventually, Kenneth’s friend returns with a replacement bottle of wine. The Karen tries to complain, saying it took her “10 minutes,” but Kenneth argues it was no more than three. This gets a rise out of Kenneth’s friend, who asks if she’d like her to do some “cartwheels” for her. With someone else matching her energy, the Karen says nothing.

The reacts by siding with Kenneth

With 100 comments and counting, most of the commenters sided with Kenneth and gave him props for handling the angry customer so well. Only a few tried to argue on Karen’s behalf and were ridiculed.

“Def not the workers fault, but if I found out I was waiting for someone to go get wine – a non necessity – I’d have been pissed,” one viewer wrote. Kenneth responded to the comment, saying “If waiting 45 seconds pissed you off you’re in for a rough next few years.”

Given how the customer reacted to Kenneth’s initial de-escalation attempt, someone asked, “How being nice makes rude people even angrier😁😁😁.” A viewer even thanked Kenneth, stating they “work at a grocery store.”

According to Kenneth in the comments, it didn’t take his friend 10 minutes. It was actually more like “45 seconds,” and not the three minutes he gauged in the video. If waiting in line is that much of a hassle, try self-checkout. People in the service industry get enough flak!
