There are two things that really make or break a game, and I don’t think I’m the only one who feels this way(I hope). Pets and Mounts. Well, there might be some other things that contribute to deciding whether or not a game is good, but sometimes you need to take a step back in and focus on the cuter features of a game. Cuter, and sometimes more fierce. Personally, I’m a sucker for a game that allows you to have cutesy little pets and mounts that follow you around or let you ride them without a worry in the world.
With the release of Diablo 4‘s latest expansion, Vessel of Hatred, we got cats. We got LOADS of cats. I mean, at this point, who even wants to ride around Sanctuary on a horse. The moment I stopped by the Stable in Kyovashad and found that I’d acquired the Nahantu War-cat, I immediately equipped it. Paired with the War-cat Battledress, I knew there was no way that I would be switching it up any time in the near future. But that was only until I checked out the vendor at the stable and saw the feline cuties that awaited me.
Not only do we get the big, adorable, spotted war-cat, but we could also purchase the Leucistic and Nahantu Panthers. Honestly, I was in heaven. I didn’t care how long it would take me to scrounge up the 200,000 Gold I needed, but I was going to get those cats. Now, I just need to figure out how to get the Platinum I need to buy the other four other cat mounts and armor sets that I stumbled upon in the Shop. This is clearly an addiction that I’ll need to feed.
What really got me though, is just how out of character this is for me. I’ve always been a horse and dog girl myself. Never in my life have I been like “Yo, I think imma switch it up for a bit and like cats,” but here we are, at 27 years old, convinced that cats are the cutest thing in the world and that I’d much rather ride a cat across Sanctuary rather than a horse. I might be wrong, but I’m pretty sure I’m becoming a crazy cat lady(Don’t take that as a hit if you like cats; my ‘crazy’ was already there long before the cats, I can assure you).
But of course, it didn’t stop there. I mean, why would it? We already had access to Hratli, the cutest little pup. Now, however, we can use Natalya and Alkor as well, a couple of adorable kittens that will follow us around and pick up any Gold and Material drops that we miss. If there was ever a point where I thought I would be chill riding around on a horse with a puppy following me, I was entirely wrong.
The bottom line here, is that Vessel of Hatred has effectively turned me into a cat lady, and I can’t say that I’m upset about it.
