This article is over 1 years old and may contain outdated information.

Around the very first days of Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 1, there were leaks that Season 2 would be the season of Olympian Gods in Fortnite, and the sources were very reliable. Furthermore, Epic Games had also sent Survey Skins with many Olympian Gods to numerous players, and the skins quickly went viral on social media. These Survey Skins, sent out in August 2023, included almost 10+ Olympian Gods, and they all looked truly amazing. But then, lo and behold, the players started to get furious.

The Downgrade of The Gods

Shortly after the release of Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2, I’ve been seeing a lot of disappointment from players on platforms like X and Reddit about the Olympian Gods. I can’t say that this has devastated me too much, as I personally didn’t have any expectations.

Although I didn’t have any expectations for the new skins, it’s really frustrating that there is such a huge difference between the Survey Skins and the skins added to the game, especially if you’ve been waiting a long time for these cosmetics to be added. By the way, keep in mind that the image above is just the tip of the iceberg.

So no bundle, can't select styles and a downgrade….

You can see dozens more posts like the Reddit post above where players express their frustrations. However, most posts and comparison images are deleted by the FortNiteBR subreddit moderators. Even if you’re not interested in Greek Mythology, when you look at the Survey Skins, they manage to impress you. But when you look at the actual in-game styles, the situation is pretty dire.

It feels akin to changing the graphics from the highest to the lowest settings on your gaming PC. In essence, it feels like Epic Games has smoothed out the details a bit too much. Not to mention that most of the Olympian Gods in the Fortnite Myths and Mortals season are not relevant to their original depiction.

Lastly, this Reddit post wraps things up nicely:

The goddess of beauty, huh?

The reality of the situation can be seen in the Reddit posts and the upvotes these posts have been receiving. Hopefully, Epic Games will soon stop streamlining skins and we’ll see some well-crafted cosmetics in the future updates.
