Xbox is well-known for its platform exclusive games, with Starfield and Palworld being two of the best examples. Like any other console, it’s pretty much expected for certain games to only be available on one platform, but the fact that Xbox’s exclusives have a tendency to be big-name games from large studios can sometimes be frustrating for fans. Luckily, Xbox boss Phil Spencer has announced that four Xbox games, formerly exclusives, will be making the jump to other platforms as part of the company’s strategy to “continue to evolve.”
Which Xbox Games Are Going Cross Platform?
In a recent episode of the official Xbox podcast, executives Sarah Bond, Matt Booty, and Phil Spencer sat down to discuss the future of Xbox in 2024. Given that the company has gone through something of a rough patch recently, Microsoft Gaming is likely clamoring for more money-making opportunities, and part of that is reportedly a plan to make more of their games available to people around the world. In this vein, the podcast announced that “four [Xbox] games” would be coming to “other platforms” sometime soon.
No details were shared as to which four games they meant, or which “other platforms”, but it seems pretty unlikely that the cross-platform games will be major Microsoft exclusives or big earners like Starfield. At the same time, based on what was revealed in the podcast, speculation has begun to pick up.
“Today we announced that we will expand the communities we reach: we are currently in the process of bringing four Xbox games to other platforms. These are titles which have been available to Xbox players for at least a year, including hidden gems that deserve to be experienced more widely, and live service games whose communities will benefit from welcoming even more players. We will share more details on these titles soon.”

With these clues in mind, sources reportedly close to Mircosoft have thrown out names like Sea of Thieves, Hi-Fi Rush, Pentiment, and Grounded as games in cross-platform contention. All four games fit with the timeline, and Sea of Thieves is a particularly well-known live-service multiplayer game that would likely be welcomed by PlayStation and Nintendo users. In addition to the games themselves, Xbox also revealed that they would continue to implement features like cross-play and cross-save progression, which will likely come in handy if any of the four games listed above do actually make the jump to any other platforms.
At the end of the day, the only way to tell which games Xbox will be making cross-platform will be to wait for the games themselves, or any official confirmations from execs like Phil Spencer.
