All right, Gears fans, it’s finally time! After years of waiting, we can finally pick up where we left off in that wild Gears 5 ending, with us choosing if JD or Del lives or dies and dramatically altering the scope of the narrative. It’s going to be great to see closure on this trilogy! If you feel like I do, then continue to feel my pain for a few more years because Gears of War is sidestepping the future to go deep to where the whole saga began, E-Day.
In one of the best, but most surprising “We have one more thing” moments in recent years, we got our first glimpse into Gears of War: E-Day. A deep dive into the best bromance in gaming, and a nostalgia play as a Mad World motif hauntingly echoed as a young Fenix and a Locust Drone had a brutal and intimate fight. It was tough to watch and had a flair for the dramatic, similar to the knife fight from Saving Private Ryan (you know what I’m talking about).
Since the trailer dropped, they have revealed more information about the direction of this prequel from the Coalition directly over at Xbox News Wire.
“We realized that a lot of the words we use to describe the franchise were what our fans also use, phrases like brotherhood, brutality, pathos, awe” says Searcy. “Why E-Day? That’s the moment it all comes together. It’s the heart of the Gears universe. Everything that happens is shaped by this day. It’s going to feel like a new Gears game, because that’s what it is.
It’s us revisiting the tone and the feeling of what makes Gears great, but we’re tapping into new techniques, new processes, and new technology that’s going to make the gameplay feel better than ever. It’s going to be awesome, a game that feels both truly new, and authentically Gears.”

We absolutely look forward to revisiting this infamous day in the Gears history and playing as Dom once again. Gears of War: E-Day has no confirmed release date at this time.
