The upcoming animated adaptation of the beloved original grumpy cartoon cat Garfield is on its way. Back in November 2021, it was announced that Chris Pratt would be voicing the main role of the lasagna-loving cat in a new animated film. In May of this year, Samuel L. Jackson was also revealed to have joined the Garfield movie cast in his return to voiceover after working on The Incredibles films and Turbo. Today, a whole new bunch of cast members has been added to the feature film.
The animated feature adaptation of Garfield is kicking up speed as more new cast members are slowly but surely being added to the film. Today it was announced that Nicholas Hoult (Renfield), Hannah Waddingham (Ted Lasso), Ving Rhames (Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One), and Cecily Strong (Saturday Night Live) have all joined the Garfield film cast.
‘Garfield’ Film Gets A Release Date
Coming from Alcon Entertainment and distributed by Sony Pictures, Garfield is a new “animated feature film based on the popular comic strip about a sarcastic, lasagna-loving cat.” Directed by Mark Dindal (Chicken Little), this new movie will take on a new run of Garfield almost 20 years after both Garfield movies were released in the 2000s. Sony announced earlier this month, on August 3rd, that Garfield is scheduled to release in theaters on February 16th, 2024.
