This article is over 2 years old and may contain outdated information.

The Xenochromatic Creatures appeared with the introduction of diving during the 4.0 version of the game. These curious hydro-animals help players make underwater combat and aquatic exploration much easier. Depending on the species, each life form will have a different ability for each situation. Some allow you to do damage, others protect you, and others let you destroy obstacles while diving. According to new leaks in Genshin Impact 4.2, Fontaine will have a new Xenochromatic Creature with a new underwater ability.

There are different types of xenochromatic creatures in Fontaine. Each species has a different ability better suited to combat, puzzle-solving, or exploration. Before delving into the new possible one, here are the current ones:

  • Hunter’s Ray releases water blades to attack enemies or cut algae.
  • Blubberbeast gives a pulsing sonar wave with detection-based capabilities.
  • Armored Crab creates an armored shield capable of smashing stones. It is handy for farming crystals.
  • Jellyfish power throws bombs that explode on command. This is also very useful for obtaining rock materials.

The new Xenochromatic Creature for Genshin Impact 4.2 looks like an octopus with a useful gimmick. If the leaks are to be believed, this new critter will allow players to walk underwater, which is strange after going through the long process of changing how exploring works. Yet, this will be useful for reaching chests, or some even speculate that we can fight like on the surface.

The addition of this new creature has yet to be officially confirmed by HoYoverse. As always, we must wait for further announcements or the next Special Program to confirm this new Creature. In the meantime, version 4.1 still has much more to give, as the second phase will arrive on October 17, 2023. It will feature Wriothesley and a re-run for Venti. If you haven’t, jump back into the game to gather as many Primogems as possible to collect these characters.

Genshin Impact is available now on mobile, PC, and PlayStation.
