A father in Georgia has gone viral after sharing a video explaining the punishment he gave his daughter when he found out she had worn what he considered inappropriate clothing to school.
The father said he discovered that his daughter would go to recess and change out of her regular outfit into inappropriate clothes. He then showed a T-shirt that appeared to have multiple cuts in the back, which he claimed was one of the items she would change into during the school day.
After asking viewers what punishment might be appropriate, the dad explained how he chose to handle the situation. He said he told his daughter to select five items of clothing and a pair of shoes to donate. Once she picked the items, he and the child’s mom removed the rest of her clothes. According to him, their daughter now has to wear only the clothes she originally chose to donate for the next two weeks.
The father also described an additional step they took to enforce the punishment. He claimed that her teachers would take photos of her each day to ensure she was wearing the same set of clothes and not changing into anything else during school hours.
In a follow-up video, the dad responded to those who defended his daughter and suggested she was simply being creative by modifying her clothes. He explained that their family values creativity and encourages their children to express it, but said that, in his view, it does not justify wearing outfits he considers inappropriate for school. He also emphasized that the punishment was not meant to be permanent, describing it as a temporary measure intended to help his daughter understand how seriously he viewed the situation.

The video sparked reactions online. Viewers were divided after the Georgia father’s videos circulated online, with some supporting the father’s approach. “These comments are weird…. This is good parenting,” one person wrote in response to critics. Another commenter offered additional advice, saying, “AND you take her out to dinner once a week as a dad and daughter. Tell her how pretty and smart she is. Verbalize how proud you are of her. Give her the attention she is looking for outside the home.”
Others disagreed with the dad and felt the punishment was not the right approach. “For starters, you don’t put them on blast on social media,” one person wrote. Another commenter suggested a different method, saying, “or maybe explain to her the reason why it’s inappropriate for her age. And get her new clothes or help her design/remake clothes that make her feel more self expressed and comfortable.”
The video proved controversial, dividing viewers between those who supported the father’s parenting approach and those who strongly disagreed with it.
