A current Georgia senator running for Lt. Governor posted an AI-generated anti-Muslim ad, urging voters to keep the state “Sharia free.” Of course, given the insensitive and outright reprehensible nature of the clip, the senator has drawn a significant amount of backlash to himself, with many labeling him a racist.

The Georgia senator in question is Republican Greg Dolezal, who shared the 30-second AI-generated clip on X on March 3, 2026, as part of his campaign for Lt. Governor. He wrote, “London has fallen. Europe is under siege. In America, the invaders who would rather pillage our generosity than assimilate are roaming Minnesota, New York, and LA.”

Senator Dolezal added that he would “fight the enemy before they’re within the gates,” vowing to keep Georgia “safe” and “Sharia free.” Said clip starts with two Muslim students arriving at a school. Then it cuts to a man decorating a “Happy Easter” cake. All of a sudden, a masked man uses a sword to cut the cake in half. Multiple vehicles appeared next, with some waving what appears to be flags of the Islamic State.

A Muslim man then told a White woman that she was “not allowed to drive,” stopping her from entering her vehicle. The clip cuts to a group of Muslim men firing weapons into the air, with another man wearing a bomb vest, exploding before the slogan “Keep Georgia Sharia Free” is shown on the screen.

Heavy Backlash, Reactions

As one might expect, the reaction was heavy, with many blasting the Georgia senator for how his clip depicted the Muslim world and its people, using Sharia as a way to garner votes out of fear.

“People wonder why I became a Democrat, it’s because of the inexcusable hatred spewed by many Republicans like Greg Dolezal,” one user said. Another one wrote, “As a Christian man who deeply loves Georgia, I pray you never become Lt. Governor. This is deeply racist and sinful.” A third one added, “We don’t need race-baiting, fear-mongering to get votes. Perhaps that what the Republican Party has devolved into.”

Senator Dolezal has not issued an apology following the backlash. By the looks of it, he won’t be apologizing any time soon, given that a number of his followers agreed with his message.
