When traversing five of the Nine Realms in 2018’s God of War, there is a set of bonus boss battles known as Valkyries, a series of encounters against these mythical beings that act as some challenging endgame content to test your skills with the combat system. Hunt these bosses down, and they will reward with solid loot, including the “Chooser of the Slain” Trophy.

There is a total of eight Valkyries, with a final ninth one, the Queen Valkyrie Sigrun, being unlocked once all of her sisters have fallen. You find these mini-bosses by opening Hidden Chambers of Odin, large doors that are opened using the Magic Chisel obtained from Thamur’s corpse during the game’s main quest. Once you have this item, you will be able to access the chamber and face off against these defenders of Asgard.

However, not all of the Valkyrie locations are found in a single Realm, with five of them being found in Midgard and one being in Helheim, Alfheim, Muspelheim, and Niflheim. Defeating them will be very difficult, especially the final one, so it is best to wait to complete the game’s main quest and to get some decent gear before you decide to enter the chambers. Below is a full breakdown of where to find each of the Valkyries.

Valkyrie Gunnr- Thamur’s Corpse

All Valkyrie Locations in God of War

Let’s begin by visiting the Valkyrie in the area where you get the Chisel, Thamur’s Corpse. Take your boat down through the Manson’s Channel until you reach a dead-end where you can dock next to the dead giant. The door that leads to Gunnr is found on this beach.

Valkyrie Eir- The Mountain

All Valkyrie Locations in God of War

Make your way through The Mountain until you reach a room with the wooden machinery pictured below. From here, go to the right, and you will find the Chamber housing Eir the Valkyrie.

Valkyrie Geirdriful- Foothills

All Valkyrie Locations in God of War

Starting at the stone circle where you find Sindri and next to the gondola that takes you up to The Mountain during the main quest, go to the right and climb up a wall. Stick the right path all the way through this forest area, and you will eventually reach the Hidden Chamber of Odin door as well as the Valkyrie.

Valkyrie Kara- The River Pass

Head to the Witch’s Cave and take the elevator up to her house. From the elevator, go down the path to the right of the house and travel across the light bridge. You will find a climbable wall with red sap blocking the top of it. Use the Shock Arrow to destroy the sap. Climb up this wall to see the Hidden Chamber of Odin and a treasure map waiting for you.

Valkyrie Olrun- Alfheim

Travel the Elf Realm and use the boat until you reach the large open area of water. Once there, travel down the left coastline until you find a place to dock. A path nearby will take you to Valkyrie Olrun’s chamber.

Valkyrie Gondul- Muspelheim

Muspelheim is one of the extra areas that can be unlocked by collecting several Language Ciphers around the world of God of War. Here is a complete guide to the locations of these Cipherscan. Once you enter the Realm of Fire, you will find a series of Combat trails that you will need to complete to ascend the fiery mountain. The final trail awaiting you at the top is Gondul.

Valkyrie Rota- Helheim

When you arrive in the Realm, run all the way to the end of the World Bridge and then take a left after running up a short flight of stairs. You will find the Chamber of Odin and the Valkyrie entrance here.

Valkyrie Hildr- Niflheim

Niflheim is the other area that is a bonus realm and also takes find Language Ciphers. Once in the Realm of Ice, you will discover the Labyrinth clouded in fog. To encounter the Valkyrie here, keep going left. You will need to make your way through some waves of enemies, but keep sticking to the left wall until you reach the leftmost area with no exits. Hildr will be found here.

Valkyrie Queen Sigurn- Council of Valkyries

Now that you have defeated all of the Valkyries, you can face the final challenge. Head to the Mason’s Channel’s left shore and climb the left wall. Shimmy to an area where you will discover Sindri hammering away. Climb the wall directly across from him. When you reach the top, go to the left and head towards the big wooden door. Through here is the Council of Valkyries, where you will face the game’s final and most demanding challenge.
