The beginning of the second season in the bloodthirsty world of Sanctuary has brought many new activities to the daily farming route of each player. The list of Nightmare Dungeons has many checking out dozens of locations in search of better loot, but places like the Hall of the Penitent may still raise questions. Being a boss room, Hall of the Penitent asks you to spend some Living Steel in exchange for an attempt to fight the powerful Diablo 4 Season 2 boss called Grigoire. Finding this place won’t be difficult, but let’s look at everything you need to know about the Hall of the Penitent.
Diablo 4: How To Find the Hall of the Penitent
The first thing to note is that you will only be able to visit the Hall of the Penitent at World Tier 3 and 4, and your character level must be at least 60. Once you have met these requirements, you can find the Hall of the Penitent entrance in the northwestern part game world near the Dry Steppes border. More specifically, go to the Dindai Flats area and go to its eastern border until you reach the entrance to the Hall of the Penitent. The map in the image above will help you reach your destination.
How To Activate the Hall of the Penitent
Upon entering the Hall of the Penitent, you will find yourself in a small corridor filled with weak enemies. Defeat them and move on until you find a hall with a small altar at the entrance. To activate the altar in Hall of the Penitent and summon Grigoire in Diablo 4, you must spend a certain amount of Living Steel:
- World Tier 3 – 2x Living Steel
- World Tier 4 – 5x Living Steel
Depending on your World Tier, Grigoire’s power level will vary significantly. But this is more of a numerical gain than a more complex battle. Simply put, the boss’ attacks will do more damage, and he will have more health, but the attack patterns are identical regardless of World Tier.
How To Beat Grigoire in Diablo 4
First, you should know that Grigoire is a Galvanic Saint Lightning boss, and all of his attacks use damage from this element. So, we advise you to stock up on any Lightning Resistance potions, gear, and gems to protect yourself as much as possible from this elemental damage. However, this is not enough to win, so here are some tips that can help you:
- The basis of this boss’s attacks is red ball lightning, which he shoots in front of him. A good solution would be to stay behind the boss by attacking him with ranged attacks. Ideally, we recommend distracting the boss’s attention with some minions.
- Grigoire can also use a chain lightning attack. If you see little red columns appearing in the ground, stand diagonally between them. The boss can create any improvised labyrinth with electric walls, but the lightning can only connect at a 90-degree angle.
- Sometimes, the enemy will use multiple lightning strikes in a radius in front of him. At this point, you should stand behind the boss or rely on lightning protection since you won’t be able to dodge.
- One of Grigoire’s simplest attacks is Electric Floor. You only need to follow the squares on the floor and run to where they are not already flickering.
- Finally, Grigoire sometimes uses teleportation, but you can easily avoid it by dashing in any direction once the boss is out of sight.
It will probably take about 5-7 minutes to complete this mini-challenge. But once you win, you will receive the Shard of Agony needed to summon Duriel, the King of Maggots. In addition, you can get a unique Demonbinder Mount Armor with a little chance. But among other things, you can find some class items.
