‘Having a Deed in Ur Name Is Useless’: Kentucky Man Faces Trespassing Warning at House He Says He Owns

Make it make sense

A Kentucky creator argued with police after they told him to leave a house he says he owns and accuses him of trespassing. He calls the people living there squatters and insists he should be allowed to stay too. Commenters largely backed him, though others pointed out that landlords still have to follow tenant laws.

In a TikTok video posted by @clayhild, the Kentucky creator argues with deputies at a house he says he owns. They tell him his eviction case was thrown out and the people living there still have a right to stay. Clay points out that he has the deed and calls them squatters, but the deputies disagree.

The Kentucky man pushes back, saying he just wants to live in his own house and asking what law keeps him out. The officers tell him he has to restart the eviction process, and warn that returning without doing so will get him arrested for trespassing. He agrees to leave but maintains that they have the law wrong.

Confusion hit first. Some asked if the homeowner really has to leave until the squatters are legally evicted, since that couldn’t be what the officer told him. Another asked, “why are we allowing judges to determine our rights.“

Then came the anger. A commenter said the video made their blood boil and felt for what he’s going through. Another asked how a man can get arrested at his own home, saying “what kind of justice system is that.” Another summed it up, “So having a deed in ur name is useless smh.” A third said things like this are getting way out of hand.

Others offered ideas. One suggested he “make yourself a lease and rent it to yourself,” which would make him their roommate. Someone else said to shut everything off and sell the house. Others told the Kentucky creator to sue everyone involved.

A few thought the deputies might have a point. One commenter said, “Once you rented the property out bro you’re now a landlord. You now have to obey your states tenant and landlord laws.”Another took that a step further, saying he has no more right to be in the house than the people he calls squatters.

In the end, the situation didn’t sit right with most commenters because it felt like a case of someone’s rights being trampled. For many, it seemed to prove that owning a home doesn’t mean much when the system says otherwise.
