While there is nothing better than freedom and democracy, Medals in Helldivers 2 come close. And one of the most generous tasks from which you can earn Medals is through the Personal Orders, but then the top brass just throws ‘Kill 25 Hunters’ at you without explanation. Worry not brothers and sisters, because we’re here to democratically instruct you how to introduce the concept of freedom to these so-called Hunters.
What are Hunters?
They belong to the Terminid faction, so you can only find them in Terminid-controlled areas in the Galactic War table. And while all undemocratic bugs look alike, you have to keep watch for the Hunters, referenced in the image above.
A Hunter, simply put, is a human-sized Terminid with wings and a mean case of halitosis with their bile attacks.

How to Kill Hunters Efficiently
You usually need to squash 25 of these bugs and they don’t exactly appear as often as the smaller Terminid grunts. So keep watch for agile, leaping Terminids. Those are usually hunters jumping around with their wings to close the gap.
Any mission in a Terminid-infested planet will do. But if you want the best concentration of Hunters, look for Eradicate Terminid Swarm mission types. These are the 15-minute missions where you just stand around, defending an area against hordes of enemies.
You’re required to kill a set amount of Terminids here as a goal. You don’t have to move around the map, so you can just focus on killing Hunters. Moreover, it’s easy to perfect these mission types to maximize the rewards.
Additionally, here are some tips on how to deal with Hunters more effectively on the field (you won’t learn this in the tutorial, Helldiver):
- Bring either a fast-firing weapon or a shotgun with armor penetration. The Liberator or the Breaker will do.
- Equip a Guard Dog “Rover” (in the Stratagems) so they can deal with the smaller bugs while you focus on Hunters.
- You can also bring Sentries so they can do half the work (just don’t stand in front of them).
- If you want less attention from the surrounding bugs, wear Light Armor that reduces enemy detection.
- Shoot them in the joints.
- Avoid grenade launchers against Hunters as they are fast and you might end up wasting ammo or the projectiles might end up hitting you or your teammates instead if they close the gap.
You might have to run two missions or so to kill 25 Hunters depending on the difficulty level, but that also means you’re spreading twice the freedom.
