[Updated on April 17 – Updated to reflect new Memory of Chaos cycle]
The Memory of Chaos is one of Honkai Star Rail’s fiercest endgame challenges, featuring a series of difficult fights that will test your characters and team building to the limits. To successfully clear the Memory of Chaos, you’ll need to defeat enemies within a certain number of turns. These mobs pack a mean punch and can easily defeat your characters without proper preparation. To complete the Memory of Chaos and earn all the possible rewards, prepare to bring two squads of your best characters. Let’s review how to beat the Memory of Chaos in Honkai Star Rail.
Honkai Star Rail: Memory of Chaos Chronicle of the White Knights
The Memory of Chaos in Honkai Star Rail rotates with new enemies and challenges every few weeks. Each stage features two tough battles to defeat within as few turns as possible. For the sake of endgame content, we will cover the final two stages of the Memory of Chaos, Stages 11 and 12.
Each Memory of Chaos features a buff or condition designed to help buff your units. In this run, you’ll imprint a debuff on an enemy after any attack launched by an ally. When this reaches six stacks, the enemy will immediately take a significant amount of damage.
Memory of Chaos: Stage 11
First Half: Memory of Chaos in Honkai Star Rail
The first half features two waves. The first wave will feature a fight with a Decaying Shadow and an Aurumaton Gatekeeper. The Aurumaton Gatekeeper has an irritating mechanic where it will spawn Entranced Ingenium mobs after being hit a certain number of times. Attack the Aurumaton Gatekeeper first to spawn the Entranced Ingenium mobs. When these mobs are defeated, they will deal splash damage to the Decaying Shadow.
The second wave features a boss fight against Yanqing, who has a TV by his side. If you don’t have a way to break the TV’s weakness, keep it in its Happy state, as it will refill your units’ energy. The most important part of this fight is to bring a character who can easily break the weaknesses of Yanqing’s swords. Yanqing will protect his weaknesses until these swords are destroyed. AoE characters like Dan Heng Imbibitor Lunae or Acheron will deal with these quickly.
Fu Xuan is an essential sustain unit here, as she can provide teamwide Effect RES which will ward off the many crowd-control debuffs during the first wave of this fight. Acheron can deal AoE Lightning damage which is useful in all phases of this fight. You can also consider Welt or Blade as other easy ways to deal with the swords.
Second Half
In the first wave of this fight, you’ll go up against a Dreamjolt Troupe’s Sweet Gorilla and a Voidranger: Trampler. The Voidranger: Trampler can CC your units, but if you have a character that can cleanse the attacks, you should be fine to focus on the Sweet Gorilla first. The Sweet Gorilla will summon extra mobs, but if you defeat the Sweet Gorilla, the mobs will automatically die.
The second half of this fight features a fight between another Sweet Gorilla and the boss version of Bronya. Bronya will action advance the Sweet Gorilla’s many moves. Additionally, Bronya’s weaknesses aren’t breakable unless you defeat the Sweet Gorilla is defeated first. Burst the Sweet Gorilla down and then focus on Bronya, who should be an easy fight. Bronya can also summon mobs of her own to protect her weaknesses again. If you don’t have strong AoE damage to deal with these enemies quickly, just ignore them and try and defeat Bronya.
Characters like Dr. Ratio are accessible to everyone and great at quickly dispatching these strong enemies. Topaz & Numby pairs great with him and works well here as the Sweet Gorillas have Fire weaknesses. Dan Heng Imbibitor Lunae is another great choice to burst down the irritating Imaginary weaknesses. Finally, Luocha or Aventurine are great sustain units, as they can assist in breaking Imaginary weaknesses.
Memory of Chaos: Stage 12
First Half: Memory of Chaos in Honkai Star Rail
The first wave of this fight puts you against a Frigid Prowler and a Memory Zone Meme “Shell of Faded Rage.” The dinosaur has a strong shield that greatly reduces the damage it takes unless you Weakness Break the enemy. The ability to tear this dinosaur down is mandatory for this fight! After breaking its weakness, the shield will disappear and you’ll deal increased damage. Focus on the dinosaur first before working on the other enemy.
After this wave, you’ll have to defeat another Dinosaur and Cocolia. Here, you’ll have to balance your damage between the two enemies, and you might not be able to defeat both of them right away. We brought down the dinosaur to about 20% HP and then swapped targets to Cocolia to deal more damage to her. This way, the dinosaur went down due to splash damage and the MoC buff.
Qingque is a strong asset here, as her AoE Quantum damage can help shred necessary Quantum weaknesses. Alternatively, you can bring Acheron to shred the Lightning weaknesses instead. Ruan Mei is a blessing in this fight, as she enables you to break weaknesses faster. Fu Xuan or Lynx as your sustain units can help minmax this run, as their Quantum damage can assist in weakness breaking.
Second Half
In the first half, you’ll fight a Senior Staff: Team Leader enemy and The Ascended enemy. The Senior Staff: Team Leader can deal high damage and summon mobs that will slow your clear down, so defeat this enemy first. Beware of The Ascended’s Prana-Siphon attack that will reduce your Max HP. This effect will carry over to the next phase of the fight. A solution would be to focus The Ascended first before she has the chance to use this move.
In the second half, you’ll fight the boss version of Aventurine. Aventurine has two phases, but they play out almost the same. During his first phase, Aventurine will target one random character on your team. Aventurine and the character he chooses will roll dice after spawning dice on the field. You need to score higher than Aventurine by hitting the dice and scoring a higher number. This is luck-based, but you can raise your chances through AoE attacks which can hit more than one dice.
In the second phase, Aventurine’s gimmicks stay mostly the same, but he’ll target all of your allies this time. He will typically attack you in his first turn, and then start the gambling mechanic on his second turn. It’s highly recommended to save your Ultimates until the dice roll starts to increase your odds of getting a higher score with extra attacks. For every character that wins a dice roll, they’ll immediately gain their Ultimate. For those who fail, they’ll take heavy damage.
AoE characters that can target Aventurine’s weakness are highly recommended, here. Jingliu is an obvious candidate as she can target all Ice weaknesses in this stage and easily win dice rolls. Acheron is another stellar character here, as she can also easily beat the dice roll and target Aventurine’s Electric weakness. Misha is a decent free-to-play option as he also deals Ice damage and has good AoE for the dice roll. Pela is a great debuffer as her Ultimate can win dice rolls, target Aventurine’s Ice weakness, and increase your team’s damage.
