Want to know how do Mods work in Remnant 2? While Remnant 2 offers players a wide variety of unique weapons you can get through story or side content exploration, the basic abilities of most guns will become unsatisfactory for players very soon. This is not surprising, given the number of bosses, aberrations, and other enemies you encounter in procedural generation worlds. Fortunately, from the very beginning of the gameplay, Mods come to your rescue that can give your weapon bonus abilities. Accordingly, we will explain how Mods work in Remnant 2.
Remnant 2: Mods Explained
First, it is worth noting that Mods is not a new mechanic in Remnant 2 since this was present in the previous game in the series. Of course, this feature has undergone some changes in the new game, but it will seem insignificant. As before, using Mods, you can give your weapons unique abilities. Burning bullets, healing, increased damage, or summoning tentacles – are just a few of Mods’ skills.
You can equip Mods on both primary and secondary weapons. But each weapon only has one Mod slot, so choose wisely. On the other hand, Mods don’t stick to your gun, and you can change both weapons and mods for free, creating any combination for comfortable gameplay.
Separately, it is worth mentioning Boss weapons that stand out from the general rules. This weapon drops exclusively from bosses and often has a powerful permanent Mod that cannot be removed or replaced. But this weapon is powerful enough that you would use it without changing the upgrade.
Also, note that you won’t be able to use Mod abilities all-time. While using these abilities, you consume Mod Power and must replenish it. You will refill Power simply by killing enemies. Still, we advise you to consider getting a few traits, armor, and accessories to farm this resource faster.
How To Get Mods in Remnant 2
When it comes to getting Mods, you have several effective ways. First, after completing the training, you will receive four starting Mods for free:
- Healing Shot
- Concussive Shot
- Scrap Shot
- Hot Shot
Each of them is useful depending on the archetype you choose. But if you’re looking for the best start, Hot Shot Mod will probably give you the best benefits in the beginning.
The second way is to craft mods on your own. You only need to fight Bosses and Aberrations to get the materials. After that, visit Ava McCabe in Ward 13 to buy or create some Mods.
Finally, you can get Mods by fighting bosses. This method is related to the previous one and is a great way to get a couple of specific Mods.
