With the recent release of God of War Ragnarok, details about Kratos and his background have become a hot topic within the gaming community, and one notable characteristic that many are questioning is the demigod’s age. While he physically appears to look somewhere between 40 to 60 years old in-game, looks can be deceiving for individuals with the blood of gods running through their veins. After all, Kratos has come a long way, from slaying the members of his family in Greece to experiencing the events after Fimbulwinter. Therefore, it can be surmised that this bearded warrior and iconic fatherly figure could be over a millennium old.
What is Kratos’s Age in God of War Ragnarok
The destruction of Sparta occurred in 464 B.C., but Fimbulwinter, the prelude to the events of Ragnarök, took place around 535 A.D. Many believe Kratos to have been in his early to late thirties during the first God of War game; therefore, he should be over 1,050 years old in God of War Ragnarok, according to the real-world timeline.

How Tall is Kratos in God of War Ragnarok? Answered
YouTube content creator Hey! Did you know? states that Atreus was around 11 years old during the events of God of War (2018). Since Fimbulwinter lasted three years, Atreus should be 14 years old by the time Ragnarok takes place. Therefore, these years could be added to the 1,050-year estimate, making Kratos around 1,064 years old in God of War Ragnarok. Of course, 14 years is the blink of an eye for someone who has lived hundreds of years, so the advent of Ragnarok is not a significant deal when considering Kratos’s age between the 2018 game and its 2022 sequel.
On the other hand, those who do prefer not to take real-world timelines into consideration have assumed that Kratos is roughly 200 years old in God of War: Ragnarok. According to Destructoid, fans have stated that Tyr’s temple was “asleep” for 150 years after the events of the franchise’s original trilogy. When adding his initial age of 30 with 150 years, including the extra 14 years of Atreus, Kratos could be around 200 years old. However, these are all just theories that have yet to be confirmed by the developers.
God of War: Ragnarok is available exclusively on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.
