How To Beat and Catch Quivern in Palworld

That’s not Dragonite.

Palworld includes several tough bosses, including the feathered Dragon-type Quivern. Boasting good stats, good Work Suitabilities, and a range of elemental attacks, Quivern makes for a tough opponent but a desirable Pal to catch. Whether you want to challenge this boss or take down one of its weaker cousins in the wild, facing off against a Quivern is no easy task, just like catching some of the tougher dragons in Pokemon. If you want this celestial Pal on your side in battle and beneath your saddle in the skies, you’ll need to put in some serious work. Here’s how to beat and catch Quivern in Palworld.

Whereas some Pals spawn all over the place in Palworld, Quivern is much harder to find. There are only a couple of places you can find this Pal, including the marked area in the image above. Like other Pals, trying to catch Quivern in the wild has its drawbacks, which is why it may be easier to take down the boss-version instead. A Level 23 Quivern can be found in the Sealed Realm of the Winged Tyrant, a short distance north of the fast travel point. Bosses don’t scale in Palworld, so fighting this boss while under-leveled is a bad idea.

Quivern is a Dragon-type Pal. That means it’s strong against Dark and weak against Ice. The following Pals are good counterpicks against Quivern:

  • Sweepa
  • Swee
  • Reindrix
  • Chillet
  • Penking
  • Jolthog Cryst

If you don’t have any Ice-type Pals, it’s not the end of the world, but trying to take down Quivern with Dark Pals such as Katress, Tombat, Leezpunk, and Cawgnito is a bad idea unless you have no other option. During the fight, try to let your Pals draw aggro while you get headshots on Quivern with your strongest ranged weapon, preferably a gun of some kind. Even if you don’t have access to late-game weapons, a Musket or Makeshift Handgun will do fine.

How To Mount and Fly Quivern

After you get Quivern, there’s still one more step before you’ll be able to take this majestic Dragon-type for a ride. That’s crafting a saddle. Falling to your death doesn’t make for a good adventure, after all. Here are the resources you’ll need to craft a Quivern Saddle at the Pal Gear Workbench:

  • Leather x30
  • Ingot x30
  • Cloth x10
  • Paldium Fragment x30

You don’t unlock the Quivern Saddle until Level 36 in the technology tree, which means you’ll likely be quite far in Palworld before you get your hands on it. Considering how epic it feels when you can finally fly around on this dragon’s back, however, it’s worth the wait. Once you have the saddle and Quivern in your party, just press “E” to summon the dragon and then hold “F” to mount it.

Palworld is available for PC in early access.
