Whether you decide to face Faerin or his counterpart Faelin in Remnant 2, your adventurer will be in for a tough, formidable battle. Stunningly designed in both character design and combat mechanics, this rip-off Vivec has sent us back to the World Stone more times than we’d like to admit. Nevertheless, once you understand and can recognize Faelin or Faerin’s heavily scripted moves, overthrowing this boss in Remnant 2 should be an achievable feat.
Faelin vs. Faerin in Remnant 2?
Based on our observations, the positioning of specific mechanics of the Faelin and Faerin fights in Remnant 2 was slightly altered. However, both boss battles are essentially identical and likewise challenging. Following the main story, you are given the choice of battling one or the other. The primary difference will be the rewards you receive for the Fae sovereigns’ defeat:
Bosses | Unique Drops | Craftable Weapon Recipe (McCabe) |
Faelin | Melded Hilt | Godsplitter (Melee Weapon) |
Faerin | Imposter’s Heart | Deceit (Long Gun) |
Therefore, if you want to unlock either the Godsplitter sword or the Deceit gun in Remnant 2, be sure to choose the correct boss battle.
Faelin | Faerin Boss Battle in Remnant 2 Explained
Dodge Melee Attacks in the Open Area
After Faelin or Faerin’s elegant and majestic levitated walk from his throne, the grandiose battle will commence. The Fae monarch might seem distant at first, but don’t be deceived. He will dash forward to you, executing one or more melee slashes. Time your rolls right when he brings his arm down; otherwise, you’ll taste his royal blade. Continuously dodge backward or to the side to avoid being struck. Stay away from the pillars and walls on the side of the chamber at all costs, as you can get stuck in the environment’s stiff geometry.
Sidestep Projectiles; Preserve Dodge Stamina
The next trick Faelin or Faerin has up his kingly sleeve in Remnant 2 is summoning ad orbs that fire sharp projectiles in a straight line. You might be tempted to dodge-roll but save your stamina! These blades can be easily avoided by sidestepping. Just make sure you’re far from the chamber’s walls or corners. Use your ranged weapon to shoot down these ads to prevent them from pestering you further.
Watch for Blades From Above
Once you get Faelin or Faerin in Remnant 2 to around 50% HP, he will begin moving giant swords around the arena. Keep a close eye above your character and the ground beneath, as he will stab the blades into the ground, triggering AoE damage. Rolling out of these sword attacks is easy, but watch your positioning, as you might just dodge straight into another blade’s plunge.
During this time, the boss’s summoned orbs can appear in groups or rows. Instead of shooting them all down, break a hole in their lines to access the opposing side of the chamber. Otherwise, they will limit your dodging space with their presence and projectiles.
Keep Your Distance From Faelin’s | Faerin’s Grand Slam
Once at 25% HP, the Fae monarch will become more unpredictable with his sword-plunging attacks. Moreover, he’ll zoom around the chamber and slam down, dealing damage in a large AoE. When you notice he’s about to do this, immediately run or roll away, as standing in the AoE will spell your demise. He’ll also spawn a cloud of ad orbs that will vertically rain down projectiles. The trick here is to keep repositioning around the arena while shooting at the boss whenever he appears.
Remember that both Faelin and Faerin’s weak point in Remnant 2 is their head, so that’s where your reticule should always be aiming when firing. Additionally, having a summon, player ally, or dog companion will definitely make the fight easier by drawing away aggro when you need to heal.
