In many JRPGs, you and your party will often encounter unique “fleeing enemies” that, when defeated, will give you a huge amount of money and EXP; the most popular example is Metal Slime from the Dragon Quest series. There are also these kinds of enemies that you can stumble upon when roaming the dungeons of Persona 4 Golden. One of them is called Happiness Hand. Of course, you will need a specific strategy to defeat Happiness Hand in Persona 4 Golden, and this guide will help you learn how to beat it.
How to Beat Happiness Hand in Persona 4 Golden
First of all, let’s take a peek at Happiness Hand’s stats:
- HP: 150
- Physical: –
- Fire: Strong
- Ice: Strong
- Elec: Strong
- Wind: Strong
- Light: Strong
- Dark: Strong
- Almi: 500%
As you can see, this enemy is 500% weak against the Almighty Element. That means the best way to beat Happiness Hand in Persona Golden is by utilizing Almighty attacks such as Megido. However, when you’re still early in the game, it might be tough to own a Persona with an Almighty attack.
You don’t have to worry, though, because All-Out Attacks actually deal Almighty damage! You read that right; this means if you manage to deal a Critical Damage against Happiness Hand, launching an All-Out Attack afterward should be enough to beat the Shadow. Try attacking with a Physical attack with a high Critical Rate (since this Shadow resists all elements anyway) to make sure you can knock it down and make it open for an All-Out Attack.
Other than that, you can also use damaging items such as Ball Lightning, Firecrackers, Pinwheels, and Ice Cubes. These items will deal a flat 50 damage regardless of enemies’ weaknesses and resistances. Throw three of them in succession and you should be able to beat Happiness Hand — but keep in mind that elemental immunity or absorption will still apply to those items.
Sometimes, you will obtain them from NPCs or loot, but you can buy them at the Shiroku Store for 1080 Yen on Rainy Days. The above strategies will also work on other Hand enemies in Persona 4 Golden: Wealth Hand, Treasure Hand, Supreme Hand, Opulent Hand, Luxury Hand, and Glorious Hand (although they all have a different amount of HP).
Once defeated, a Happiness Hand will give out 1,500 EXP, 2,000 Yen, and a chance of dropping Magatsu Xandrite. Exchanging a number of Magatsu Xandrite along with additional materials at Shiroku Pub will let you obtain a unique weapon for each party member:

Yu Narukami/Protagonist | Musashi Shinai | Magatsu Xandrite x8 Guardian x2 Ryugu Stone x8 |
Yosuke | Happy Maracas | Magatsu Xandrite x8 Mondo Stone x1 |
Chie | Spring Boots | Magatsu Xandrite x8 Kaiou Stone x1 |
Yukiko | Santa Fan | Magatsu Xandrite x8 Mondo Stone x1 |
Kanji | Christmas Wreath | Magatsu Xandrite x8 Kaiou Stone x1 |
Teddie | Animal Paw | Magatsu Xandrite x8 Mondo Stone x1 |
Naoto | Rubber Band Gun | Magatsu Xandrite x8 Kaiou Stone x1 |
