Raene Wolfrunner is one of the most difficult bosses in Warcraft Rumble due to her powerful opening offense. The Huntress rush is devastating without any prevention tactics and you must survive that to have any chance of winning. Once you survive the rush, you must recoup your forces and launch a slow offensive while holding off future Huntresses. Here’s a strategy to defeat Raene Wolfrunner that helps you proceed to the next area.
Hold Off The Huntresses
The starting moments will bring three Huntresses from the north and an attack force from the west. Your west flank isn’t hard to defend; the three Huntresses are the biggest problem. Their glaives bounce, hitting multiple enemies at once and shredding through any unit that isn’t a tank. These glaives can hit every enemy type, unlike their Warcraft III counterparts, meaning you can’t use flying units as a counter.
One solution is to use a melee Tank Hero like Grommash Hellscream. Sending a single Hero mitigates the glaive bouncing and reduces the Huntresses’ damage potential. Any Tank Mini that goes against the Huntresses should deal decent damage, taking out at least one or two of them before falling. The remaining survivor shouldn’t be hard for the rest of your units.
Your western flank will start pushing towards you, but you can mitigate the threat with some decent melee Minis. Even if they break through, the recommended melee-ranged Mini combo from the tutorial is enough to turn the tide. After the Huntresses are taken care of, push the west flank hard, taking the Guard Tower and building an army to reach Raene.
Mitigate the Huntress Threat
It’s not hard to defeat Raene Wolfrunner in Warcraft Rumble despite the Minis she sends down your west flank. The biggest problem is the Huntresses spawning in the northeast part of the map. If they gather another force, you must deal with the same problem again which hurts your ongoing war effort.
Fortunately, the Huntresses appear one at a time and don’t move until they gather a team of three. After you defeat the first team of Huntresses, send some Minis to your north flank and take the Meeting Stone. Place Minis in the northeast corner of the Meeting Stone’s deployment zone, which makes them attack any Huntresses they pass by.
Defeating Raene Wolfrunner On Time
Raene will push your west flank hard, sending armored and stealth units to push you back. If you take the Guard Tower in the west, it is easier to mount a counter-offensive. Deploy any Kobolds to the southwest to earn more gold and then send your units out. Melee, Tank, Flying, Ranged, and Elemental Minis are great options. Heroes are great too, but don’t forget to occasionally place Minis towards the northeast or you undo your hard work.
Raene is powerful and takes some time to defeat, but a continued offensive will wear her down and give you the victory. Hold off the Huntresses as long as you can and keep swarming Raene with Minis. If you can protect yourself against the bouncing glaives, this battle isn’t different from the other boss fights.
