If you thought Ranni and Rennala were the only ones wielding the power of the moon, wait until you meet Rellana, Twin Moon Knight in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree. This Knight is a mandatory boss who holds one of the new Remembrances of the DLC, and if you’re delving into legacy dungeons, you’ll have to face it. With the power of fire and magic, players will need the right strategy if they want to finish this fight mostly unscathed.
Rellana, Twin Moon Knight Location
Before facing Rellana, Twin Moon Knight, you must find her at the end of Castle Ensis, one of Elden Ring‘s new legacy dungeons. For those who don’t remember what a legacy dungeon is, Castle Ensis is similar to Stormveil Castle or the Academy of Raya Lucaria in terms of complexity and size. To reach Rellana, you must do the following:
- Head to the center of the DLC’s map to find the bridge leading to the castle.
- Defeat the Troll Knight guarding the bridge.
- Once inside the dungeon, hear toward the closed gate; you’ll find a Site of Grace to your left.
- After activating the Site of Grace, return to the closed gate and take the right path. Follow the cavern’s path until you find a ladder; climb it.
- From the top of the fort, you’ll see an opening that leads inside the building. Jump through it.
- Keep following the stairs until you face Moonrithyll, Carian Knight.
- Enter the building and follow the hallway until you find a Lazuli Sorcerer. Defeat it and continue until you reach the exterior. There will be a small gate for you to open.
- Cross the gate and keep following the path until you find a lift. Ride the lift and activate the Site of Grace; the entrance to Rellana’s boss room will be on your left.
How To Defeat Rellana
Rellana, Twin Moon Knight is one of the toughest enemies in Elden Ring. She’ll use a combination of sorceries and long melee combos to make your time with her miserable. Here are some of the attacks you might expect:
- Glintblade Phalanx: Rellana will summon three swords that she’ll launch at you after a while.
- Glintstone Arc: When Rellana launches her swords, she’ll also launch a Glintstone arc. You can avoid all attacks by running to the side or dodging as soon as she launches the swords.
- Melee Sidestep Combo: Rellana will use a sidestep combo similar to Malenia’s. She’ll raise both of her blades, do a long sidestep, and attack you with both blades. You can block or dodge the attack.
- Fire & Magic Attacks: Once she reaches 50% HP, she’ll imbue her swords with fire and magic. She’ll perform different combos ranging from sending out magic-imbued waves to even a firestorm. However, the important one is when she becomes a moon and slams the ground three times. It is hard to avoid, so heal up as soon as the boss starts floating and enveloping herself.
The best strategy to beat Rellana, Twin Moon Knight, is waiting for her melee combo to finish and spam heavy attacks. She doesn’t have a lot of poise, so you should be able to stun her three times during a fight. You can bring out your Mimic Tear to do more damage and divert her attention. For this fight, some of the new Dryleaf Arts are great as they hit hard and fast, allowing you to get many hits in to stun the boss. So, if you’ve unlocked them, don’t be afraid to switch your build for this fight before facing this fierce knight.
Rellana, Twin Moon Knight Rewards
Since Rellana is a Legendary Boss in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree, you’ll get a Remembrance after beating her, plus 240,000 runes. You can get the following items from her Remembrance:
- Rellana’s Twinblade (Stance Weapon)
- Rellana’s Twin Moons (Full Moon Sorcery)
If you are going for a full Intelligence build, the Sorcery is fantastic as it combines both of the Moon Sorceries we had in the first game. For melee users, Rellana’s Twinblade works like the Sword of Night and Flame. You have two stances, each with a different attack. This is a great weapon that scales with Strength, Dexterity, Faith, and Intelligence evenly, making it a great choice for different builds. So, pick the one you like the most before heading out to the Realm of Shadow.
