While exploring the dank, lush jungles of Yaesha, you’ll eventually encounter the Root Nexus in Remnant 2. Those familiar with the game’s prequel might recall this hostile entity from the Cult of the Root event, featuring the same living wood. Growing beneath a massive, twisting tree with numerous branching limbs, this organism appears harmless at a glance. However, once you attack the Root Nexus boss in Remnant 2, its mutated defenses kick in, summoning waves of enemies to its trunk.

The Root Nexus actually does little to keep you from firing or slashing at its core. Instead, it will call forth ads to protect it after its HP drops to a certain percentage. You’ll have encountered these minor opponents while navigating through Yaesha. However, facing multiple swarms at once can be quite a challenge. Fortunately, we’ll discuss a strategy that can help you beat the Root Nexus easily, even as a solo adventurer.

Fight in an Open Area

Before initiating the fight, look around for a spacious area where you can freely move in all directions without restriction. Battling ads near the Root Nexus limits your space to dodge due to the circularly narrow pathway surrounding the tree. If it’s your first time exploring the area, examine the clearing for any possible invisible collision walls that might prevent you from moving. Moreover, keep your distance from corners during combat.

Use Your Guns To Trigger Waves and Kill Ads

Standing in the clearing, shoot at the Root Nexus from a distance to start. Once the first wave of spiked foes starts rolling in a literal sense, use your guns to take them down. Melee attacks will risk you getting struck and losing HP, which should be preserved for later waves. The teleporting archers should also be slain with range firepower, as they can retaliate with a melee strike if you get too close. Once the initial wave is over, melee-flail away at the Root Nexus until the next round begins.

Use the Open Space in the Clearing To Avoid Losing HP

Regardless of the difficulty you’re playing on, you’ll likely make a mistake or two and lose HP. That’s why staying in the clearing away from the Root Nexus is crucial to ensure you’ve enough room to easily dodge. The cleaver-wielding armored foes and burrowing Root monsters are two elite enemies that will definitely give you trouble.

Take down the burrowing one first, as it can almost immediately catch up to you. Conversely, the armored enemy can only approach on foot. Still, both have a linear ranged attack that can ambush you if you’re not careful. As noted above, avoid using any gunfire on the Root Nexus and save your bullets for these two monsters.

To summarize, here’s how you can defeat Remnant 2’s Root Nexus easily:

  1. Fight summoned ad swarms in an open area away from the nexus.
  2. Use guns for ads and melee attacks for the nexus.
  3. Avoid corners or any parts of the map with dead ends or invisible collision walls.

Being a Medic or equipping the healing Mod for one of your guns will undoubtedly assist with survivability. Additionally, we highly recommend you purchase the Rootward Ring from Bedel, a vendor you can find in Yaesha. The ring prevents Root Rot, a Blight caused by the attacks of the enemies summoned by the Root Nexus.
