One thing that all survival games have is base building. Some make it more intricate, like Subnautica, and others have you clearing a house to make a base, like Project Zomboid. In any case, the goal is always the same. To have a place to crash, fend off creatures, and store your hard-earned loot. If you have been struggling to find a good place to keep your stuff safe, we have something for you today. We’ve prepared a guide to tell you how to build a base in Sons of the Forest. While the basics are easy to grasp, the game doesn’t hold your hand, and you’ll need to experiment with building a nice safe house.
How to build a base in Sons of the Forest
Before you build your base, you’ll need a suitable spot. In a map full of enemies, it is important to find a place that has everything close. There are two places we recommend for your safe house. You can either build near a river to get a constant water supply and fish or build on top of the trees. Making a treehouse is a technique that many players did in the first game. It still works in this one and is an easy way to stay safe. If you have your spot, this is what you’ll need to build a base in Sons of the Forest:
- Logs
- Leaves
- Sticks
These three resources are important when it comes to building a safe house, and you should stock on them as soon as you find your spot.

However, the more you progress through the game, the more you’ll unlock. If you want to check your progress, press the “B” key to see all the recipes and blueprints you have.
