After going down memory lane in Destiny 2 due to the Monument of Triumph update, you’ll also notice that there’s another, more combat-oriented event coming from our now forgotten Lodi. However, before starting the event, you’ll need to complete the usual tutorial quest, which will teach you the ropes of the new systems, public events, rewards, and other things that will help you get geared up. To help you, we’ve made a quick guide to show you how to complete the ‘Distortions’ quest in Destiny 2.
How To Start ‘Distortions’ in Destiny 2
To start the ‘Distortions’ quest in Destiny 2, you need to complete ‘The Tenets‘ first, and you’ll instantly get the breadcrumbs of this new mission, leading you to Lodi. You’ll find him at the Tower Bazaar. This quest is pretty short in terms of steps, as it only has four, and here’s the walkthrough for each:
Step 1: Consult Lodi at the Tower
- Lodi consulted at the Tower
Step 2: Acquire a Distortion Breach chest

- Distortion Breach chest acquired
- For this step, you need to find a planet on the map that has Distortions. It will be marked with red and will show how long the event will run for. Then, land on the map and locate a public event. You need to finish the public event and then stay for the Distortion Breach if you want the chest.
Step 3: Collect 50 Strange Matter
- Strange Matter collected
- Keep looting chests, materials, or completing events to obtain Strange Matter.
Step 4: Follow the Strange Signal
- Strange Signal followed
- Open your map, and you’ll see a new marker. Track it to find the final chest of the mission.
As you can see, the ‘Distortions’ quest in Destiny 2 is pretty short, and it only serves as a quick tutorial to show you what you can do during these Distortions appearing all over Sol. And while you could focus on the mission only, it is good to keep playing them, as they are an excellent way to obtain gear and Engrams, and also to complete a few Triumphs that you might need for this new update.
Just remember to always participate in the event and always go for the one with the most players. Some of these Distortions are quite dangerous, so you’ll want to be surrounded by other fellow Guardians to make things easier.
