Vernworth is the capital city of the Vermund region, and you can start numerous side quests there. In the Slums, you can encounter a man named Kendrick who asks you for some donations. If you give food and money to the man, you can trigger a mission that you must complete to progress the main story. In Dragon’s Dogma 2’s The Heel of History quest, you must find a missing child named Malcolm who has entered a hidden library.

Dragon’s Dogma 2 The Heel of History Quest Guide

In order to locate Malcolm, you must speak with three children in the Slums. Luckily, you don’t need to go far since they are near Kendrick. Here are their positions:

  • Aimee – Inside the Gracious Hand.
  • Harvey – Crouching beside a broken house.
  • Rick – Standing on the cliff and watching the sea.

After getting information from the kids, you can report to Kendrick. The man knows where to find Malcolm, and you must follow him. After a cutscene, the entrance to an underground area will be open, and you can head down.

How To Find Malcolm

Your next objective in the Heel of History quest is to explore the vaults. Don’t worry; there are no skeleton monsters here, only some spiders and bats. You can find a locked door in the first room, so you must take the path to your right to progress.

Just keep walking and exploring all areas, and you will meet Malcolm eventually. The boy will lead you further into the vaults, where you can discover a hidden library.

Completing the Heel of History quest in Dragon’s Dogma 2 will give you these rewards:

  • 900 EXP
  • 3,000 Gold
  • Panacea x1

Before leaving the area, I recommend exploring the library to pick up several spell tomes. Here are the books you can obtain:

  • Igneous Melody
  • Thunderous Concord

Knowing the library’s existence will be required to complete a main mission. In the Caged Magistrate quest, Waldhar refuses to leave his cell unless he can go to a place with “a mountain of tomes.” If you complete the Heel of History quest before meeting the man, you can tell him to go to the vaults immediately.

After you save Waldhar, you should revisit him in the underground library once a few days have passed. The man will give you a side quest where you need to steal his glasses from the castle.
