This article is over 2 years old and may contain outdated information.

If you’re following the path of the Alchemist and trying to use a Staff as your primary weapon, then you’ll need to learn how to craft and use Staff Charges in Enshrouded. Sure, you can find random Staff Charges as drops for completing certain quests and even for defeating certain enemies, but that can only get you so far. You really need to understand how to use them, which works best for your type of combat, and even just how to craft them. Believe me, when I say that you can fly through Staff Charges like no tomorrow, so having a steady supply on hand is an absolute necessity.

Crafting Staff Charges requires you to have the Alchemist unlocked, and even more, you should have completed The Alchemist’s Mortar quest as well so you can unlock additional crafting recipes for useful Charges. Eventually, you’ll even be able to unlock Eternal Staff Charges, which don’t get used up when you activate them like the others do. So head inside your base and place down the Alchemist using the Summoning Staff and place down the Alchemist’s Mortar from your inventory after you’ve retrieved it.

To craft Staff Charges, you should head over to where you placed down the Alchemist Craftsperson and speak with him. Activate the dialogue option to craft with him, and locate the Staff Charges in the list of crafting recipes. You’ll see that at the beginning, you’ll have only three options: Chain Heal, Fireball I, and Ice Bolt. These are the three main Staff Charges you’ll be using until you get quite a bit farther and unlock more through levels, crafting, and quests.

To craft each, you need:

  • Ice Bolt
    • Alchemist
    • 2x Water
    • 5x Shroud Liquid
  • Chain Heal
    • Alchemist
    • Mortar
    • 4x Bonemeal
    • 5x Chamomile
    • 1x Glow Dust
  • Fireball I
    • Alchemist
    • 10x Resin
    • 1x Tar
    • 2x Bonemeal

Staff Charges are quite easy to use as long as you have some in your backpack along with the Staff of your choosing. With your Staff equipped, you can choose to charge or fire your weapon. Both options are shown on the screen with the correct buttons for each, depending on whether you’re using a mouse and keyboard or a controller to play.

To switch up the Charge you’re using at the moment while holding down the Charge button, you can scroll using your mouse wheel or bumper buttons to change the equipped Charge. After that, simply hit the fire button and watch your Staff Charge wreak havoc on everything in its path.

Enshrouded is now available on PC.

Jordan is an experienced fantasy writer who spends hours behind her laptop, and lost in the pages of a book. She strives to be a successful gaming blogger, and has no complaint about the hours of game time she used to increase her knowledge of all things “geek”. She primarily writes gaming articles and fantasy novels. Ark: Survival Evolved is a favorite, along with Diablo 3, Warframe and Minecraft lately, though you can’t forget the good old Magic the Gathering card game! Writing about games truly gives her joy as it gives her another perspective to look at games from, a reason to really look into the mechanics of the game.
