Congalala is truly one of the most annoying creatures in Monster Hunter Wilds. Farts aside, this creature can attack with different status effects and has a lot of mobility that makes every encounter with it quite challenging. Many new hunters might hit a wall when trying to bring down this monster. That’s why we’ve gathered a few tips to let you beat it quickly and get those sweet monster materials because, contrary to this beast’s looks, the armor you get from it is quite great and looks nice on any hunter.

Congalala Weaknesses

Congalala is a tough fight because, compared to other Monster Hunter Wilds creatures, you’ll need to focus on one part of its body or apply elemental statuses quickly. For the former, you need to focus on its head. This part is weak to all types of damage, so you can bring your favorite Slash, Blunt, or Pierce weapon to it. However, in terms of elemental weaknesses, these are the ones you should bring:

  • Fire
  • Ice

Fire is easy to get, as you can craft fire-infused weapons after fighting Quematrice. Ice will take longer to get, though. As for status effects, Congalala doesn’t have a lot of weaknesses to those. All of them fall into the two-star category or effective. You can bring a weapon with Paralysis or Blast, but if not, raw damage is much better.

Hunt Strategy

Once you have your weapons ready, it is time to begin the hunt. This fight is different from others because Congalala excels at applying status effects. Furthermore, its farts and burps will require you to bring a lot of Deodorants to cleanse yourself, so craft a bunch ahead of the fight. Once you’re ready to engage the monster, follow these tips:

  1. Focus on Congalala’s tail.
    1. Congalala will burp and afflict one of many different status effects, which change depending on what it eats. Farts never change, but burps can paralyze, blast, or even poison you. To mitigate this, you can attack its tail before it eats the mushroom. This will cause Congalala to drop the mushroom, thus preventing the status effect attack.
  2. Attack its head whenever it rolls over.
    1. Congalala tends to perform several quick attacks that usually leave it on the ground after rolling over. Here is the perfect time to attack its head, which, again, is this monster’s weakest point. The fight might take longer, but if you want the combos to end, you’ll have a better chance of getting some hits in.
  3. Attacking after a fart is ideal.
    1. We’re aware some of these tips sound like a joke but trust us, Congalala farts a lot, and if you manage to avoid its filthy clouds, you can get a few hits in. After a fart, Congalala will get stunned for a bit. Here’s the perfect moment to get many hits in and run away. Just avoid running into the monster’s fart cloud, or you’ll get hit with a status effect.

Congalala Materials

Last but not least, Congalala will drop a few materials that can help you create a useful armor set and upgrade a few weapons, depending on the upgrade tree. Here’s what you’ll get:

  • Low Rank Materials
    • Congalala Pelt (Very Common)
    • Congalala Claw (Very Common/Broken Part)
    • Vibrant Pelt (Common/Broken Part))
    • Congalala Fang (Rare)
