While all bosses in Path of Exile 2 are challenging, Lachlann of Endless Lament will be one of the first that will present players with a true challenge. After going through two boss fights, this fearsome foe will await you in the Memorial Gate. Also, contrary to other encounters, the arena to fight this one isn’t as open as previous ones, so there’s an added challenge to it. For that reason, we’ve prepared a quick guide to help you take down this enemy and move on to Ogham Village.

Lachlann of Endless Lament Boss Guide for Path of Exile 2

Before we delve into the details, we must say this guide is focused on Lachlann of Endless Lament in its normal difficulty in Path of Exile 2. We haven’t reached cruel difficulty yet, so we’ll update the guide if there are any new mechanics. With that out of the way, let’s break down how this fight occurs.

Boss Moves

In Path of Exile 2, the bosses do not have names for their moves. Instead, a few have audio cues before execution, so we’ll review each one here.

  • Arm Swing: The boss will raise its mutated arm and swing in front. Avoid the attack by moving behind Lachlann.

  • Double Smash (My Rage Burns): When the boss says “My Rage Burns,” it will launch a double attack by smashing its mutated arms twice. One in front of it and one behind. To avoid it, move to the sides. It can kill you in one hit if you don’t have enough HP.

  • Triple Spirit Shot: When Lachlann raises its smaller arm, it will launch three green spirits toward you that will also leave a trail of ice. Try to kite the attack toward the outside of the arena so that the ice trail doesn’t take up much space.

  • Spirit Burst: Lachlann will raise its smaller arm again and charge up green energy. After a while, the ground will burst below you, sending a wave of spirits. However, the spirits will land again at your location. To avoid the attack, run away from the impact zone or do a double dodge away from the area of the first burst.

  • Ground Spikes: When you hear the red attack audio cue, move to Lachlann’s side because it’ll send a shockwave erecting spikes from the ground. These spikes can one-shot you.

  • Homing Spirit (Feel the chill of the grave): When Lachlann says, “Feel the chill of the grave,” it will stomp the ground, sending a spirit to chase you. The spirit will spiral around an area, creating an ice trail. To avoid it, move around the middle grave to keep the trail in the inner part of the arena.

Strategy

Defeating Lachlann in Path of Exile 2 will vary depending on your class. However, the strategy should stay mostly the same for all.

  1. Start by attacking Lachlann as soon as the fight begins. It will throw the “My Rage Burns” attack first, followed by the Triple Spirits.
  2. When it sends the first spirits, stick to that area. You’ll want to keep all the ice trails on one side of the arena.
  3. Once it starts casting spirit bursts, you must kite Lachlann around the middle grave. Doing so will let you get a few hits in while the other parts of the area thaw.
  4. If the Homing Spirit proves to be too challenging, stick to either the front or back of the middle grave and run left to right to freeze that area and leave the other one untouched.

Overall, the fight isn’t too challenging, and the difficulty relies mostly on the small fighting area. If you keep all the ice trails on one side and learn Lachlann’s audio cues, you’ll defeat it quickly.
