This article is over 1 years old and may contain outdated information.

After diving into Earth and watching helplessly as most of their squad is slaughtered during the breathtaking first sequence of Stellar Blade, Eve and Tachy are met with a fearsome foe, which the game does not expect or demands you to beat. But is it even possible to defeat the Brute during the prologue? And will you unlock any new scenes or get any rewards by doing so? Here’s how to defeat the Brute in Stellar Blade, as well as what will happen once you do.

(This guide was made based on the game’s demo and will be updated once the game is released, if needed).

How to Defeat The First Boss in Stellar Blade

You can beat the Brute in Stellar Blade by staying close to the enemy and focusing on parrying their swings before dealing heavy damage. During the battle, you should only get away from the boss when they begin their unblockable vertical swing. You will know the attack is coming once their head starts glowing like in the image below and can avoid it by pressing R3 before running backward.

If you are having trouble fighting the boss at close range, an approach focused on running and only attacking from behind can also work. When attempting the latter strategy, keep in mind that although Tachy’s attacks won’t damage the boss, she can and will agro the enemy often. You will also not generate Beta particles while following this strategy, so the fight will take way longer.

To perform our main strategy, you must master how to parry the boss’s attacks, a feat you can perform by pressing R1 at the moment their attack is close to hitting Eve. After nine successful parries, the Brute will lose their balance and you will be able to perform a devastating Retribution attack. The attack will deal damage equal to around 30 to 40% of the boss’s health bar.

What Happens if You Beat the Prologue Boss in Stellar Blade?

Unfortunately, defeating the Brute won’t cause anything to happen/change or even get you some neat reward in Stellar Blade. Instead, once you deplete the boss’ health to its final bar, the game will play out as if Eve had been defeated. The sequence where Tachy protects her and they defeat the enemy will then play out as usual.

Stellar Blade will debut on April 26, 2024, exclusively for the PlayStation 5.
