One of the best features of Baldur’s Gate 3 is the ability to dye clothes. While it is a hidden feature, once you learn how to use it, you’ll hunt for dyes to customize your character’s outfit. If you don’t know how to dye clothes in Baldur’s Gate 3, don’t fret; we’ll tell you how to do it in this guide.

You only have to find a colored dye to change the color of your clothes in Baldur’s Gate 3. These items can be hard to find, but we’ve spotted some with traders or in the world. They seem rare during the first chapter of the game, but many more might appear during the late parts. To dye clothes, you have to do the following:

  • Open your inventory.
  • Select the dye and right-click on it.
  • Select combine.
  • A new window will open with the dye and an empty space.
  • Drag your armor piece to the empty set and combine it to dye it.

As you can see, this feature is relatively easy to use, but many players might miss it if they don’t know how to do it.

Where to Find Dyes?

So far, it seems dyes can be found in certain places in the world and by some traders. With how big Baldur’s Gate 3 is, and people looking for ways to dye clothes, finding each dye will take a while. However, many NPCs to meet and interact with might have more of these items. There might be a chance to craft them, but we’ll have to wait to confirm this while playing further.

Every piece of armor so far can be dyed, which is fantastic for those who want an extra layer of customization for their characters. If not, you can stick to the original colors of your armor, as it doesn’t affect anything in terms of gameplay.
