Fomantis is a small Grass-type pocket monster in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet that can evolve into Lurantis once certain conditions have been met. According to lore, Fomantis is generally nocturnal and undergoes photosynthesis while sleeping during the day. Of course, this characteristic is not present in Scarlet or Violet, as Fomantis roams its habitat during the daytime, unlike nocturnal-oriented monsters like the Ghost-type Misdreavus. To find Fomantis, Trainers can search in the grassy fields around Tagtree Thicket or the plains across the river southeast of Mesagoza. Once players catch this Grass-type creature, they can evolve into Lurantis by reaching a certain level at a specific time.

Evolving Fomantis into Lurantis in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet
To evolve Fomantis into Lurantis in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, Trainers must level Fomantis to Level 34 during the day, based on in-game hours. If players level Fomantis past Level 34 at any time during the day, this does not mean it cannot evolve into Lurantis. Instead, all fans need to do is level it up once more during daylight.
The easiest way to ensure that Fomantis reaches Level 34 during the day is by giving it Rare Candy or an EXP Candy at Level 33. Candy can be found throughout the world via exploration, but it can also be obtained from clearing activities like Tera Raid Battles. Fomantis is notably weak compared to most pocket monsters, meaning that using it in battle might not be the most optimal means of farming experience for the Grass-type creature. It is possible to use the Let’s Go auto-battle function in early-game areas where Fomantis might have a good chance of success in instant combat. However, EXP Candy and Rare Candy are likely the best sources of fast EXP for this pocket monster’s evolution.
It is also possible to catch Lurantis in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet instead of evolving Fomantis. This method allows players to add the pocket monster directly to their Pokédex as opposed to grinding levels for a low-level Lurantis.
Pokémon Scarlet and Violet are available on the Nintendo Switch.
