This article is over 2 years old and may contain outdated information.

Hisuian Qwilfish and Overqwil are two evolutions of the same Pokemon, which you may remember from Pokemon Legends: Arceus. With the release of the Indigo Disk DLC, you can add both evolutions to your Pokedex, but not everyone knows how to turn Qwilfish into Overqwil. So that you don’t have to figure it out on your own, we’ll explain how to evolve Hisuian Qwilfish into Overqwil in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet the Indigo Disk. Luckily, you won’t need to look for items or artifacts to evolve as with some other Pokemon because it’s much easier.

The main thing you need to do is teach Hisuian Qwilfish the Barb Barrage move. When this is done, all that remains to be done is to level up the Pokemon, and it will evolve into Overqwil.

So, let’s talk in more detail about each step of this process. First, find and catch a Hisuian Qwilfish. This is not difficult to do because the Pokemon is quite common inside the Polar Biome, which is located in the Blueberry Academy Terrarium. Look for ponds because Qwilfish is a fish that spawns exclusively there. Try to tame a Pokemon of a higher level to be able to teach it the Barb Barrage move. This move is available at level 28, so if your Pokemon hasn’t reached that level, you’ll need to train it.

When your Pokemon is caught, you will need to set Barb Barrage as one of its active skills. To accomplish this, follow these steps:

  • Open your party and find Hisuain Qwilfish, among the list of other Pokemon.
  • Interact with the Pokemon to open a drop-down menu where you will have to select the Check Summary option.
  • Next, go to the Moves and Stats tab to use the Remember Moves option.
  • Here, find the Barb Barrage move and set it as active. If necessary, swap it with one of the already active moves.

Once Barb Barrage becomes one of the active moves, all you have to do is level up the Pokemon. This is not difficult to do either by using it in combat or feeding it Rare Candy.

If all the conditions are met correctly, your Hisuain Qwilfish will evolve into an Overqwil after leveling up.
