Echo of Malphas is the Uber or Hard version of the main boss of Diablo 4 Season 3: Season of the Construct. You need to unlock the Gatehall hub and access the toughest challenge there: the Vaults. Similar to other Uber Bosses, you have to bring specific items in order to locate and summon this jacked-up version of a normal boss. Echo of Malphas also can only appear once you have reached a certain World difficulty.

Echo of Malphas can be found in the Vault of the Loom in Torment or World Tier IV Diablo 4 difficulty. Survive the enemies and the traps, and you can finally challenge the Season 3 Uber Boss in The Descent part of the dungeon. He’ll appear as a Level 100 boss, so we recommend you grind until Level 90 or above yourself and prepare your best gear to face him.

As Echo of Malphas is the Uber version of Malphas, you have to defeat the Season 3: Season of the Construct boss first. Complete the Season 3 questline until you can access the player hub under Kehjistan, the Gatehall, and unlock the Vault gates. There, you will find five different Vaults, four of which contain Son of Malphas minibosses while Malphas awaits in Vault of the Loom.

What Does the Echo of Malphas Drop?

Defeating Echo of Malphas has a small chance of dropping Unique Turning Stones. Furthermore, they can also drop from Wardwoven Chests, which require Zoltun’s Warding charges to open. In total, you will need 30 Zoltun’s Wardings if you want to open every single Chest in the dungeon.

Compared to the story Malphas, the Uber version has more tricks up his sleeve. For example, the elemental Conduits will appear much more often. You’ll want to take them down fast as their attacks will keep getting intense the longer they stay up. Nevertheless, you can keep one Conduit up as long as you have resistance against that particular element. Always keep your eyes on the arena floor to avoid his attacks and build element resistance as best as you can.

To unlock the normal Malphas and Vault of the Loom, you have to offer 10 Pearl of Warding and 250 Shattered Stones. Meanwhile, for Echo of Malphas, you need to give seven Igneous Core and 250 Shattered Stones to the Corrupted Altar in Diablo 4. Here’s how you can obtain the items necessary to unlock the Vault:

  • Pearl of Warding: Dropped by Heralds of Malphas in Arcane Tremors.
  • Igneous Cores: Dropped by Sons of Malphas and Heralds of Malphas (World Tier IV).
  • Shattered Stone: Dropped by Constructs and enemies spawned by Obelisks in Arcane Tremors.
