Zhentarim, better known as the Black Network, is a band of thieves and killers. The path to find and enter the Zhentarim hideout in Baldur’s Gate 3 is difficult, as you will face various obstacles, such as fire and an annoying doorman who is not easy to get through. Don’t worry, though; we’ll tell you in detail how to bypass all the obstacles and enter the vault, as well as what awaits you there.
Zhentarim Hideout Location in BG3
The Zhentarim hideout is only accessible during Act 1. So, the first thing you need to do is open the map and pay attention to Waukeen’s Rest, which is in the northwest. This is where you will need to go. The best method would be to go to the Blighted Village fast travel station and then follow the linear path to the northwest at the following coordinates: X: -64, Y: 564.
When you arrive, you will see that everything is on fire. You can either ignore this fact or help the villagers put out the fire after the last Gnolls attack. Regardless of your choice, eventually, after exploring the area, you will come across the Shabby Door, and this is precisely where you need to go. Head to the coordinates: X: -115, Y: 615. When you get to the Shabby Door, you will have to break all the boxes at the entrance to get inside, where the first challenge will be waiting for you before entering the Zhentarim Hideout.
How To Unlock the Zhentarim Hideout in BG3
Well, when you break the boxes and finally enter this small wooden building, the first person you will meet is Salazon. This character plays the role of a doorman. To get past him, you will need to convince him to let you in. There are several ways to do this, but it’s best if you know the password. There are two ways to get the password, namely:
- Rescue Rugan: If you have previously completed the related quest Find the Missing Shipment, you had the opportunity to rescue Rugan from Gnolls. If you had done this and talked to him, he should have told you the password.
- Detect Thoughts: If you have a Warlock, Bard, or Wizard level 2 in your team, you are probably familiar with this spell and understand how it works. Just use it on Salazon to find out the correct password. If you don’t have a character with this spell, then check your inventory, as you may have Uncovered Mysteries Amulet, which performs the same function.
If both methods are not available to you, then dealing with Salazan will be much more difficult and possibly even tragic. An alternative is the standard Persuasion or Deception checks, which can also work but will not be as effective as the methods mentioned above. If you fail to persuade Salazan, he will get angry and blow up the building by setting fire to the oil nearby. If you survive this, then congratulations, you can continue your journey to the Zhentarim hideout.
Regardless of which method you choose, once you’ve dealt with Salazan, the next step is to explore the building to find the hatch. Luckily, you’ll find the right place a few steps away. After entering the hatch, you will go down the ladder and finally get to Zhentarim Basement. The last thing you need to do to get to the main hideout is to go down another ladder in front of you, then find and interact with the brown Wardrobe at the following coordinates: X: 384, Y: -261. When you do this, you will open a passage and can use the hidden stairs to finally get to Zhentarim Hideout in Baldur’s Gate 3.
