Shortly after setting up your initial base on your journey across the post-apocalyptic world of Embervale, you’ll be tasked to Summon the Survivor. This entails crafting a special item, which you’ve not used before, and it doesn’t simply appear in your list of crafting recipes like the others. So, if you’re wondering how to get a Summoning Staff in Enshrouded, here’s what you should know.

How to Unlock the Summoning Staff

After finding the sleeping survivor, you’ll be charged with Summoning the Survivor, and this involves crafting a Summoning Staff. Interestingly, however, you’ll first need to return to your Flame Altar and interact with it before you can start crafting this useful item.

Once you’ve returned to your Flame Altar, simply press the Y button to interact with it. After some flavor text describing how the new survivor will be a welcome addition to your line-up, the Summoning Staff will be unlocked in your Crafting menu. Specifically, you’ll find it in the Essentials sub-menu, which is the first group of items on the screen.

You’ll need one Twig to craft the Summoning Staff. Thankfully, they’re easy to acquire as they’re quite abundant in the forest starting area. To collect them, simply harvest shrubs, bushes, and saplings. They’ll also sometimes drop from chopping trees down as well.

Once you have a twig, go into your Crafting menu and select Summoning Staff to craft one.

Once you’ve crafted one, now it’s time to use it. Equip it in your action bar and select it. When you’ve selected it, the blue silhouette of the character in question will appear. The first character you’ll spawn on your adventure is Oswald Anders the Blacksmith.

Now, using the X button, you can place the Blacksmith wherever you want in your base. If you want to move him to another location, press the R2 button and place him again with X. Talk to him using the Y button and he’ll be able to help you craft some even better equipment. He’ll even give you some tips, lore and even some new quests as well.
