Stardew Valley features more than 20 types of fruits, ranging from simple ones like Apples and Blueberries to fantastical produce such as Qi Fruit and Ancient Fruit, that can be cooked or used as materials for other activities. Getting yourself an Ancient Fruit is not particularly easy, and to help you out this Stardew Valley guide will tell you where to find one.

Stardew Valley – Where and How to Get Ancient Fruit

True to its name, an Ancient Fruit can only be obtained by growing Ancient Seeds. Once planted, the seeds will yields fruit once you have passed 28 in-game days; afterward, a mature Ancient Seed plant will sprout Ancient Fruit every seven days or one week. There are several ways you can obtain Ancient Seeds:

  1. You can purchase Ancient Seeds from the Traveling Cart.
    • Priced at 1,000 Gold, it is a pretty rare item and will not always show up in their inventory. You will have to check them often to see if one is available.
  2. Acquired from a Seed Maker.
    • There is a very small (0,5%) chance that the Seed Maker will give you Ancient Seeds instead of the crop’s seed.
  3. Donate an Ancient Seed Artifact to the Museum.
    • Using a Deconstructor tool, you can actually deconstruct Ancient Seeds and salvage them into an Ancient Seed Artifact.
    • You can claim Ancient Seeds from Gunther after you have donated the Artifact.
  4. Crafted from an Ancient Seed Artifact.
    • Once you have donated the Ancient Seed Artifact, Gunther will also give you a crafting recipe to make Ancient Seeds from the Artifact.
  5. Obtained from the Abandoned JojaMart Missing Bundle.
  6. Obtained from the Rare Crops Bundle from remixing the Pantry Bundle in a new game.

And keep in mind that Ancient Seeds cannot be planted in Garden Pots. If you try to plant one in a Garden Pot, the game will display the “Her roots grow very deep… She wouldn’t be happy in there,” message instead and prohibits you from doing it.
