One of the most adorable Grass/Fairy-type Pokemon we have ever encountered is Cottonee. It’s a little circular ball of, well, cotton. Introduced in Pokemon White and Black, Cottonee has made its way to Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. Just the same, its evolution, Whimsicott, was also added to the game. If you already have a Cottonee, then let’s get into how to evolve your Cottonee into Whimsicott in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet: The Indigo Disk.

If you don’t have a Cottonee, you can find one within the Coastal Biome to the northeast. Once that’s taken care of, then you can use a Sun Stone to evolve it into Whimsicott. You won’t need to wait to reach a certain level or anything like that beforehand. When you’re hovering over the Sun Stone in your inventory, select Use This Item and use it on Cottonee. You’ll immediately witness the evolution cutscene, finishing with your very own Whimsicott.

Whimsicott Stats

All of Whimsicott’s stats are as follows:

TypeAbilitiesWeak ToDamaged Normally ByResistsImmune To
Grass and FairyPrankster, Infiltrator, and Cholophyll (Hidden)Poison, Fire, Ice, Flying, and Steel.Normal, Psychic, Bug, Rock, Ghost, and Fairy.Water, Grass, Electric, Fighting, Ground, and Dark.Dragon

The following are each of Whimsicott’s abilities:

InfiltratorThe user ignores the opponent’s protective moves and stat boosts from moves.
Chlorophyll (Hidden)Increases the user’s Speed stat under sunshine.

Where To Find a Sun Stone

There’s more than one way to find a Sun Stone in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet:

  • Porto Marinada Auction.
  • Artazon Sunflora Hide-and-Seek Gym Test
  • Gym Challenge Rerun Reward
  • Sparkling Dropped Items

The price of the Sun Stone at the Porto Marinada Auction will vary every time you go. In fact, even its availability will vary. After earning one in the Artazon Sunflora Gym Test, the only other way to really get more is to find them. They’ll appear around the world as shining objects. Just pick up every one that you see, and you’ll be sure to find at least one.
