Trainers can now meet and evolve Aipom in the Pokemon Scarlet and Violet DLC, The Teal Mask. Aipom is the monkey Pokemon that didn’t originally make the cut for Scarlet and Violet. However, the new DLC introduces a new area of the Paldea region that players can roam called Kitakami. The new location offers plenty of returning Pokemon, including Aipom and its evolution Ambipom. Aipom is one of the most common Pokemon in The Teal Mask, but, unfortunately, it is also a version exclusive.
Where To Find Aipom in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet The Teal Mask
Aipom and its evolved form are exclusive to Pokemon Violet. The Pokemon cannot be caught in the wild in the Scarlet versions of the game. If you want Aipom in Scarlet, you must trade with another player with the Violet version. Pokemon Scarlet players will have Gligar and Gliscor in Kitakami rather than Aipom or Ambipom.
Aipom can be found in the wild in nearly every part of the Kitakami map in Pokemon Violet. While you won’t spot the monkey Pokemon in the mountains or caves, Aipom will spawn in most grassy fields surrounding Oni Mountain. The Mossfell Confluence, Fellhorn Gorge, Timeless Woods, and the Wistful Fields are the best places to find Aipom.
Aipom is a low-stat stage-one Pokemon, so it can easily be caught with a Quick Ball at the beginning of a battle. A Dusk Ball will also work very well against Aipom at night. Aipom is a Normal-type Pokemon, meaning it has no clear advantages or disadvantages other than being weak against Fighting and immune to Ghost.
Ambipom doesn’t spawn in the wild in Pokemon Violet. You will have to evolve Aipom to add Ambipom to your Pokedex.
How To Evolve Aipom Into Ambipom in The Teal Mask
Aipom doesn’t evolve into Ambipom via traditional leveling in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. Aipom must level up knowing the attack Double Hit to evolve into Ambipom in The Teal Mask DLC.
Double-Hit is learned by Aipom at Level 32. If you end up capturing an Aipom past level 32 that doesn’t already know Double Hit, you can have your Aipom relearn the move.
- First, add Aipom to your party and select it in your Pokemon menu.
- Pick the Changes Moves option and scroll through all of Aipom’s previously learned moves until you find Double Hit.
- Select Double Hit and make your Aipom forget one of its four moves.
- With Double Hit as one of its four moves, simply level up your Aipom once to evolve it.
