You can recapture Piloswine again in the Pokemon Scarlet and Violet DLC, The Teal Mask, and evolve it into a Mamoswine. Piloswine is the pig boar Pokemon introduced in Pokemon Gold and Silver. All the Pokemon in the Piloswine evolution line are Ice and Ground-type. It evolves from Swinub, a tiny piglet Pokemon. Piloswine can evolve into giant Mamoswine, the mammoth and pig hybrid Pokemon. Piloswine doesn’t transform into Mamoswine in the typical leveling-up way. You need to evolve Piloswine in an unorthodox tradition in The Teal Mask.
Where To Capture Piloswine in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, The Teal Mask.
You go on a field trip to the Kitakami as part of the Teal Mask DLC. Kitakami is a Japanese-inspired area located near the Paldea Region, the main setting of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. You will encounter many new Pokemon in Kitakami that weren’t available in the wild in the Paldea Region. Piloswine and its evolutions can be found in Kitakami but not in the Paldea Region.
Piloswine is a rare spawn in Kitakami, located in the caves on the east side of the Oni Mountain. The pig boar Pokemon is a stage 2 evolution, meaning it’s stronger than a traditional base stage Pokemon like Pidgey or Rattata. Piloswine’s Ice and Ground-typing make it weak against Fighting, Steel, Fire, Water, and Grass-type attacks. However, it is also immune to Electric attacks.
It’s easier to find and capture a Swinub in Kitakami in The Teal Mask than to capture a Piloswine. Swinub spawn in multiple locations on the Kitakami map. One of the earliest locations to find Swinub is in the wild along Reveler’s Road. The road will be directly east of Mossui Town, the first town you visit when you arrive in Kitakami.
Swinub has low stats, making it easier to capture with a Quick Ball at the start of a battle. You can also use a Dusk Ball at night to capture a Swinub easily. Swinub will evolve into a Piloswine at level 33.
How To Evolve Piloswine Into Mamoswine in The Teal Mask
Piloswine doesn’t evolve into Mamoswine by leveling up in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. Piloswine must level up knowing the move Ancient Power to evolve into a Mamoswine in The Teal Mask DLC.
The Pokemon will have Ancient Power already remembered in its backlog of moves. To have Piloswine relearn Ancient Power, place Piloswine in your party. Select Piloswine in your Pokemon Party menu and pick the Change Moves option. Scroll through Piloswine’s previous learn moves and find Ancient Power. Select Ancient Power and have Piloswine forget one of its current four moves to make room. Then simply level up Piloswine once with Ancient Power to evolve it into Mamoswine.
