In need of a way to get fan devices in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom? As useless as they may appear, the Zonai Fan Devices allow vehicles such as mine carts and buildable cars to move on rails and land. Better yet, those needing to evade enemies can blow them away with the device. Although, this unique piece of equipment is primarily obtained from a limited number of areas on the map. This guide will explain how you can get fans in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom and everything they are used for.

As it is a Zonai Device, you can only obtain fans from the Sky Islands. Luckily, it is one of the most plentiful objects in the skies, as several can be discovered lying around rails and water areas. The fastest way to get fans in Tears of the Kingdom is undoubtedly from Device Dispensers, which require either Zonai Charges or Construct Horns to activate. Bear in mind, you can check which dispensers hold fans by hovering over them on the map to view their current inventory. Here is a list of Device Dispensers that are guaranteed to carry fan devices:

  • The Taunhiy Shrine Device Dispenser (located on Hyrule Ridge Sky)
  • The Kadaunar Shrine Device Dispenser (located on Eldin Canyon Sky)
  • The Gutanbac Shrine Device Dispenser (located on Great Sky Island)
  • The Nachoyah Shrine Device Dispenser (located on Great Sky Island)
  • The Igoshan Shrine Device Dispenser (located on Lanayru Great Spring Sky)

Once you have activated one of these Shrines, the fan device should come inside a capsule you can then access from your inventory. It is also important to note that a dispenser only holds five fans at a time, so you may need to visit multiple locations.

There are endless ways Link can use in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom. Most of your time will likely be spent attaching the back of fans to mine carts or wooden boards with Ultrahand. After doing so, Link can activate the fan by simply hitting it, ultimately pushing the object forward. Combining these objects lets you travel on everything from roads, water, and even the Sky Island’s rails. Fan Devices can also be applied to other Zonai Devices. As shown above, a fan can be applied to the Wing device for it to fly faster and greater distances. Of course, Fans should also be used in combat by taking advantage of the Fuse ability. For instance, it can be glued to a shield or sword in order to push enemies nearby backward—possibly leading to them taking fall damage.

Zelda Tears of the Kingdom is available on Nintendo Switch.
