During the Path of Legends questline in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, Trainers must confront a pocket monster boss known as Quaking Earth Titan: Great Tusk. More specifically, the Quaking Earth Titan will differ depending on one’s version of the game. Violet users will face the futuristic Iron Treads, while Scarlet players will encounter the ancient Great Tusk. Accordingly, Great Tusk is a Scarlet-exclusive Titan. Violet players can only get this Paradox version of Donphan by trading with a Scarlet user or entering a host playing on Pokémon Scarlet. The game offers two methods of acquiring Great Tusk in Pokémon Scarlet.
Unlocking Great Tusk in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet
The first method of unlocking Great Tusk in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet is completing the three storylines of the main campaign, after which Area Zero will become accessible via the Zero Gate south of Medali. Next, Scarlet Trainers must make their way to the zone of Research Station No. 4, the bottom layer of The Great Crater of Paldea.

Great Tusk might not be right outside the exit of Research Station No. 4, but Pokémon Scarlet and Violet players will find the Paradox pocket monster eventually by exploring the general area. Unless Trainers are lucky with an Ultra Ball throw, they might need to weaken the Paradox Donphan in order to capture it successfully. When pitting combatants against this beast, players should avoid using Electric-, Rock-, Poison-, Bug-, and Dark-type pocket monsters against this opponent. Conversely, Game8 states that Water-, Grass-, Ice-, Flying-, Psychic-, and Fairy-type Moves are super effective against Great Tusk in Scarlet and Violet.
Typically, most Trainers will progress through the end and postgame to encounter Paradox pocket monsters like Great Tusk after completing the main campaign. However, Pro Game Guides claims that there is an alternate way to get Paradox Donphan even earlier. After defeating the Titan version of this Pokémon in Scarlet, players can revisit its lair in the Asado Desert to attempt to catch it, even before they have completed the three questlines of the game. Of course, this feat might not be easy, depending on one’s level, but it is something that is possible to do after defeating Great Tusk for the first time.
