World of Warcraft is no stranger to celebrating the holiday season. In its 20 years of existence, the longstanding MMO has built up an entire celebration called Winter Veil, mostly involving aspects of Christmas mixed with the game’s Greench yeti. Players can loot presents under the tree in their capital city every year. One annual gift is the Mechanical Greench, and this Winter Veil, the combat yeti is causing a stir in World of Warcraft Classic‘s Season of Discovery.

Winter Veil in World of Warcraft Classic: Season of Discovery

The Mechanical Greench is a reward earned only during the Winter Veil event. It is usually not that special in World of Warcraft retail or classic. However, the critter provides some hilarious mayhem this year in the current classic season.

World of Warcraft Classic: Season of Discovery (SoD) lets players unravel concealed mysteries across Azeroth, unlocking transformative abilities that defy traditional class roles. Picture Warlocks as tanks, Mages wielding healing powers, and other surprising class adaptations.

The season started in early December, with a level cap currently set at 25. This will be raised periodically. However, current players can brave the challenges of a 10-player Blackfathom Deeps raid, featuring both new and reimagined bosses and mechanics.

The problem with the Mechanical Yeti is that it is available in SoD. This item summons a level 58 Mechanical Greench pet that protects the player for 10 minutes. It has a 10-minute cooldown and comes with three charges. However, the Mechanical Greench in SoD is still level 58 when the player level cap is currently only 25!

People report that this pet is hitting for around 70 and has 2,200 HP. When used, it can trivialize some content because it acts as a free pet that does significant damage and can take some hits. This has been exceptionally funny in PvP as players describe situations where they hit stealthed characters and are rarely noticed by anyone until it’s too late. With this in mind, let’s detail how to get it.

How to Get the Mechanical Greench in SoD World of Warcraft Classic

Obtaining the Mechanical Greench for yourself is trivial. If you have a level 20+ character in SoD, all you need to do is visit the Winter Veil tree in either Ironforge (Alliance) or Orgrimmar (Horde). The Ticking Present you obtain from one of the gifts contains the item.

Remember that the Winter Veil event only runs from December 16 to January 2. If you fail to loot the gift during the event, you will miss out on the item for the year. Furthermore, the Mechanical Greench may get a hotfix to be less intrusive at some point.

World of Warcraft is available on PC.
