Are you looking to find the Frostbite Headdress in the new Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom? One-third of the Frostbite Armor Set, the Frostbite Headdress has a unique bonus. This headpiece boosts your attack power in cold weather, which can be useful when exploring the cold regions of Hyrule. Aside from having a helpful stat boost, the Frostbite Headdress is also one of the coolest-looking items in the game, pun intended. Between its unique appearance and helpful attack bonus, the Frostbite Headdress is a sought-after item in Tears of the Kingdom; if you’re unsure where to find it, this guide is for you.
How to Find the Frostbite Headdress in Tears of the Kingdom
In Tears of the Kingdom, the entire Frostbite Armor Set can, somewhat predictably, be found in the Hebra region of Hyrule to the northwest. You can find a complete guide on how to find the Frostbite Shirt here. To find the Frostbite Headdress in particular, look for Lake Kilsie, near the Sturdina Basin. The lake can be found just north of the Rito Flight Range and northwest of Rospro Pass Skyview Tower.
Once you find Lake Kilsie, follow it north. At the mouth of the lake, you’ll find some pieces of rubble and a dock. Watch out for monsters as you make your way towards the cliff face ahead of you, where you’ll find Lake Kilsie Cave. A Horroblin will attack you almost immediately, so be prepared to use Recall and any ranged attacks you have.
How to Get Frostbite Headdress in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
Enter Lake Kilsie Cave, and you’ll immediately be faced with a tall room filled with an updraft, which is good for using your paraglider. The main room is filled with branching cave sections that you can explore to get monster loot or a Bubbulfrog Gem, but to find the cave we’re looking for, turn to your right as soon as you catch the updraft. You’ll see an opening about halfway up the wall on the left wall. If you’re having trouble figuring out which one you’re looking for, the tattered flags always mark a Misko’s Treasure location in Tears of the Kingdom.
You’ll find the entrance to the cavern blocked by icicles and then a rock wall, but you can get rid of both with a single bomb flower. Alternatively, you can use a fire fruit to melt the ice and a rock hammer to smash the rocks if you’re running low on bombs. After smashing the rocks, you’ll be greeted by a treasure chest on a stone dais. Open the chest to get the Frostbite Headdress.
This headpiece gives you 2 points of defense, which is a little low compared to other items in Tears of the Kingdom. Still, more importantly, it also gives you cold weather attack bonuses in low-temperature regions like Hebra or around Mount Lanayru. It can be combined with the other items from Tears of the Kingdom’s Frostbite Armor Set for higher attack bonuses. Unfortunately, the set doesn’t include cold resistance, so be sure to bring spicy meals or elixirs if you’re planning on equipping the full set.
