The Paraglider is almost required if you want to do any real exploring during your time in Tears of the Kingdom. Unlike Breath of the Wild, this essential item won’t be placed directly in your path, and if you aren’t careful, you can spend a lot of time in Hyrule without it by your side. This guide will explain how to get the Paraglider in Tears of the Kingdom.

Is There a Glider in Tears of the Kingdom?
As we mentioned in the opening bits, yes, there is indeed a glider in Tears of the Kingdom. It can be used as many times as you like, and it’s only limited by your maximum stamina. It can be customized as well. Now that you know it exists, it’s time to begin unlocking it for yourself.
Where to Get the Glider in Tears of the Kingdom
The Paraglider will help you explore the Sky Islands, leap off of mountains, and they’re required to enter the Depths without going splat. To begin this quest, you have to acquire four abilities, Fuse, Ultrahand, Ascend, and Recall, then complete the Great Sky Island prologue.
Once you do this and land on Hyrule, you can begin the short trek to your new home away from home. Travel to Lookout Landing and seek out your old friend Purah. This will start the Skyview Tower tutorial. Lookout Landing is located right in the center of the map, a few miles south of Hyrule Castle and the Hyrule Castle Ruins.

She will instruct you to unlock the front door to the tower, then step inside. Activate the console and then stand on the central pad inside. Press A, and then a short cutscene will play. A bunch of tentacle-like objects will grab you and the Purah Pad. Then you will be catapulted high into the sky. This will scan the Sky Islands and the surrounding Hyrule area and show you details and points of interest.
Once you land and speak to Purah again, you will have permanent access to the Paraglider. To use it, tap X anytime you’re in the air. It will slowly drain your stamina when you’re using it, so make sure you save a sliver of it to land safely. If you head to Hateno Village, located to the southeast, you can change the Paraglider cloth and equip a different design for 20 Rupees.
Now that you know how to get the Paraglider in Tears of the Kingdom, dive into Chasms located around Hyrule to freefall into the Depths. This massive new open-world environment is full of dark caverns and dangerous enemies. Check out more in-depth guides here at The Nerd Stash for all your Tears of the Kingdom needs.
