There are many classic moves in the Pokémon franchise that are still worthy of use in the latest game. Thunder Punch is one of those moves. Dating back to the 1st Generation, Thunder Punch is a reliable move that can cause significant damage. Only two companions in the game know it by default, while two others learn it via evolution. If you want to train others in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, you must get TM068 Thunder Punch. We’ll show you the only way that you can get your hands on it.

How to Get TM068 Thunder Punch in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet

Thunder Punch is a classic Electric-type move. It is a physical move that has 100% accuracy. Alongside that, there is a chance that the opponent Pokémon will also get paralysis.

Dragonite and Medicham are the only Pokémon in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet that won’t need TM068 Thunder Punch to know the move. They already have the move by default. Meanwhile, Raichu and Ampharos learn it via evolution, and Iron Hands learns it at Level 21. For others, you have to get your hands on the TM.

TM068 Thunder Punch will show up for you in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet right at Pokémon Center in the TM machine. However, it’s not there right away. Instead, it will become available once you defeat Team Star Poison Crew. They are found in Tagtree Thicket.

You will want your Pokémon to at least be at Level 32 before encountering this crew. This is because the leader alone has Pokémon at that same level.

When you get TM068 Thunder Punch, you need the proper materials to craft it. Crafting it will give you the option to teach the move to dozens of companions. This includes Meditite, Ralts, Jigglypuff, Pikachu, and Charizard.

So, to craft TM068, gather the following materials:

  • 5000 LP
  • x3 Meditite Sweat
  • x3 Toxel Sparks

For Meditite Sweat, you can battle Meditite or Medicham. Meditite is only in three locations: South Province (Areas Four, Six) and West Province (Area Two). Medicham is only in four areas: The Great Crater of Paldea, South Province (Area Four, Six), and West Province (Area Two).

To make TM068 Thunder Punch in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, you also need Toxel Sparks. This comes from Toxel, Toxtricity (Amped Form), and Toxtricity (Low Key Form). Both Toxel and Toxtricity (Amped Form) are found in South Province (Areas Four, Six). For Toxtricity (Low Key Form), you’ll have to encounter them in Raids.

Now that you have TM068 unlocked feel free to gather plenty of these materials so you can craft numerous TMs.

Pokémon Scarlet and Violet is available on Nintendo Switch.
