With the variety of crops available, Stardew Valley allows you to transform your farm into a vibrant wonderland. But perhaps you’re missing something even sweeter than your Fruit. That’s where the Sweet Gem Berry comes in. It’s an exotic crop, not a Fruit or a Vegetable. You can’t eat it, but you can appreciate everything else it offers. First, you’ll need to learn how to grow Sweet Gem Berry, and then you can utilize its full potential in Stardew Valley.

The best way to get Sweet Gem Berry is from the Traveling Cart. They’re only available during Summer and Fall selling for 1,000g. You can always check the Cart during other seasons, as they may show up there for around 600g – 1,000g. However, those cases are rare, so it’s best to look during the Fall and Summer seasons.

Another good way to get Sweet Gem Berry in Stardew Valley is with a Seed Maker. It’s honestly the most efficient way if you want a lot of them since it’ll grant you double the seeds.

Growing Method

You’ll set aside 24 days to grow Sweet Gem Berry in Stardew Valley, so you’ll want to make the most of that time. Consider bringing in Deluxe Fertilizer to improve your chances of earning high-quality berries. The higher the quality, the better use you’ll have out of them. If you don’t have the time, you can always get the Agriculturist skill so your crops grow 10% faster.

Toss out the idea of using the attractive Sweet Gem Berry as a Gift. NPCs all view it the same: neutral. So, it’ll just be a waste. Do these instead:

  • Sell
  • Give to Old Master Cannoli
  • Use in item crafting

For selling purposes, the Sweet Gem Berry goes for an average of 3,000g. The highest-quality crop tips the scales at 6,000g, which is why you want to farm with that Deluxe Fertilizer. Meanwhile, the second usage of the Sweet Gem Berry in Stardew Valley focuses on Old Master Cannoli in the Secret Woods. If you hand the berry over to the statue, it’ll reward you with a Stardrop.

Finally, we can use the berry with certain items. For Tailoring, it’s used alongside Cloth in the Sewing Machine to make a White Turban. Additionally, you can head to 2 Willow Lane and take advantage of the gorgeous coloring of the Sweet Gem Berry to use it as red dye in the dye pots.

But I strongly recommend you focus more on the selling aspect after you score a Stardrop from Old Master Cannoli. Selling the rare crop nets you the most value at the end of the day. So, save your money to buy the Rare Seed. It’ll reward you back tenfold.

Stardew Valley is available on PC, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, and mobile devices.
