While the journey to high-level in Last Epoch is more eventful and less bland compared to the usual action RPG, the meat of the game still lies in its endgame. That’s why it should always be the goal for every character. If you want to see what the game has in store past its campaign, you need to know how to level up fast in Last Epoch. We’ve detailed several ways and methods for you.
Play the Campaign Up to a Certain Point
Sadly, there’s no ‘skip campaign button’ here, but you get access to your most fun skills while leveling. You don’t have to finish the campaign, by the way.
You can run along with the main quest up until you’ve finally acquired all your Passive Point rewards and all your Idol slots. The game thankfully indicates this via a checklist whenever you open the map. See the image above for reference. You only need to finish up until Chapter 7 to get all Passives and Idol slots.
If you’re just progressing the campaign, you can also employ some techniques to make the progression faster.
Boost Your Movement Speed
A good way to blitz through the Arena faster than you might notice is by stacking up Movement Speed. You don’t just get this stat through your boots. Sometimes, it’s even present in your gloves or rings.
So, while you’re still in the campaign, we recommend using the loot filter early on to highlight items that can give you Movement Speed. Here’s our own guide on how to use the Last Epoch Loot Filter.
Leverage Traversal Skills
Traversal Skills are even faster than just relying on Movement Speed. You can easily spot some Skills that let you move and close gaps easily. However, some of them rely on targeting, and you might move slower when there are no enemies to charge at.
We recommend using the following Traversal Skills for speedrunning based on your class:
- Sentinel
- Shield Rush
- Smite with the Descend node
- Rogue
- Shift
- Mage
- Teleport
- Primalist
- Fury Leap
- Acolyte
- Transplant
Most of these have cooldowns or high Mana costs, so manage them well. They might not give you more XP, but they will help you move out of maps or jump to other enemy mobs faster. It helps a lot when trying to level up fast in Last Epoch.
Ask a Friend to Take You to the Arena
The Arena is meant to be an endgame activity in Last Epoch. It starts at level 60, but you can access it as soon as you get the Arena Keys (right-click the key to go to the Arena). This is a wave-type mission; if you find it too difficult, you can have a higher-level friend accompany you.
This is similar to the Arena method, but sometimes you won’t need a friend to be your bodyguard. All you need are keys and some good gear, which is easy if you’re leveling an alt character and are piggybacking off the shared stash.
Play Dungeons Earlier
Dungeons can help you skip the campaign at their lowest levels. Their highest levels are meant to be endgame activities, but if you have a key, you can select the lowest tier of a Dungeon (again, right-click the key to go to the Dungeon).
This is similar to the Arena method but sometimes you won’t need a friend to be your bodyguard. All you need are keys and some good gear, which is easy if you’re leveling an alt character and are piggybacking off the shared stash.
Start Monolith of Fate Early
Speaking of shared stashes, you can also leverage that long before you reach Level 55, which is the intended starting player level for Monoliths, an endgame activity. Some Unique or Set items in the game are too powerful for their low-level requirement — heck, even Rare items work.
So once you unlock the End of Time area at around level 20+, you can access the Monoliths of Fate (walk around to the right of the End of Time area, and you’ll find the entrance to the Monoliths). Try out the Monoliths while under-leveled to see if you can handle it with advanced gear.
Of course, this only works if you’ve already finished the game once and already have a character that reached Level 70 or 80. It’s not a viable method for fresh beginners, but it will help if you want to test out other characters or builds or just want to level up fast in Last Epoch.
You Can Also Ask a Friend to Take You to Their Monolith
This works similarly to the Arena method, where you can party up and teleport to the party members’ areas and activities. Pick a party member who already has access to Monoliths and is already high-level (level 60+).
You’ll leech the party XP while close to them, and all you have to do is stay alive and keep up with their speed. That shouldn’t be too hard if you have Traversal Skills at the ready. For this to happen, though, you need other people. So make some friends — you don’t have to talk to them, just gift them some blue items from time to time as a gesture of goodwill.
